We have had welfare....and it's been an absolute failure.
A recent study concluded:
It's made poor people become addicted to drugs and procreate more children addicted to drugs and government handouts. It's become an ever increasing segment of the population.
If you want more of something then just add government subsidies.
For example in the USA there was no form of health insurance available for retirees over 55.
Enter Medicare and viola all sorts of Medicare supplemental policies were available for all retirees...
We only had a few Electric vehicles available (most were abject failures in sales and forgotten) and then the Government began subsidizing them. Entire electric vehicle companies sprang up overnight. The Tesla is the only successful electric car company....but Teslas have issues still. (Social revenge, above average tire wear, electronics problems, internet update issues, and etc)
So....IMHO,
Stop welfare completely. It's making things worse.
Yes, welfare needs to work properly.
When you have huge corporations like Walmart going to the government and saying "hey, we don't want to pay our workers a good wage, can you fill in the gaps, and here's a little backhander (that's not very little)" the govt say "We love backhanders".
And then Walmart goes back to them as says "we don't want to pay tax, how about a little backhander (that's not very little) and we don't pay our fair share of tax?" and the govt says "we love backhanders".
The US govt is so ******* corrupt. Nothing "works" because it "works" for the people who control the government. They get rich, richer every year. The poor get poorer, "**** the poor"
At some point it's going to fail. Rome did. The greed made things untenable.
