With our two-year election cycles, and endless campaigning it's no wonder nothing ever gets done. The President must protect his party, help them hold the majority by only risking political capital in bits and pieces. The parties must play to both their base and moderates on either side -- no one wants to risk doing anything that will upset one group or another.

Real Tax reform would upset the wealthy donors and Corps - screaming "redistribution".

Gun Control, Immigration - fires up the GOP fringe base.

Global Warming is becoming less of a hot button as the farming and insurance industry are starting to outnumber the coal / energy anti-science lobbyists.

Soc. Security reform brings the wrath of the old baby boomers who will live too long and crash the system.

A reasonable bipartisan gun control bill that would have made background checks necessary in all private sales except friends and family failed because Senators on both sides weren't willing to risk their seat to do something worth doing.

But we have a mid-term coming up, one that offers something different for the President: Freedom.

--He no longer has to run for re-election OR help Senators and Congressmen run for reelection. What ever happens, they keep the Senate or not, he's not the point man in 2016.

But, most importantly he doesn't have to protect the Dem Candidate for 2016 as she is already more popular than him.

Obama can let loose a flurry of Directives, Executive Orders, and Mandates on things like Gun Control, Immigration, Taxes, and Global Warming -- things that will have an immediate positive effect.

He can finally use his office to its fullest and not worry about Political fallout. The more radical progressive the better. Let Hilary run as moderate and thereby help win back seats.
