Giving todays amount of currency in circulation, the same equivalence in comparison to the value of slaves would make slaves worth 33,250,000,000,000 dollars. Baptist and Louis Hyman detailed how it was done in an article published by the Chicago Sun-Times on its website dated March 7, 2014. This is from the article:

In the 1830s, powerful Southern slaveowners wanted to import capital into their states so they could buy more slaves. They came up with a new, two-part idea: mortgaging slaves; and then turning the mortgages into bonds that could be marketed all over the world.

First, American planters organized new banks, usually in new states like Mississippi and Louisiana. Drawing up lists of slaves for collateral, the planters then mortgaged them to the banks they had created, enabling themselves to buy additional slaves to expand cotton production. To provide capital for those loans, the banks sold bonds to investors from around the globe — London, New York, Amsterdam, Paris. The bond buyers, many of whom lived in countries where slavery was illegal, didn’t own individual slaves — just bonds backed by their value. After reading how this was done it becomes very easy to see why. There are just some wrongs that cannot be excused by the belief that holding past generations to modern standards is wrong. Basically, the slave breeding industry manufactured human beings to be sold into labor. It is very difficult to read the atrocities associated with such a practice and not get angry. To hear whites today just dismiss the entire enterprise of slavery like it was just some short term inconsequential inconvenience this country experienced for a little while that we as blacks should just forget is for the lack of a better word, crap. For someone black to mimic that opinion is just pure accommodationist lunacy. If you think that is a radical opinion, consider the stories from former slaves you are about to read.

This industry included the first employer-based health care program. Female slaves were the first people in America to get free health care. I do not say this to be funny because the reason why that happened was both sad and simple; after the importation of slaves was made illegal, white dependence on slave labor hinged on the continued births of healthy children. After importation was made illegal, the only way left to maintain the system was by increasing the number of slaves through births. Due to this, a black women’s ability to reproduce was of the utmost economic importance to southern planters and to the slave breeders.

I think we need to understand how depraved things were during these times. The range of sexual abuses black slaves included buck breaking, whereby slave masters would rape enslaved black men. Buck Breaking was used as a method to control slave uprisings. If a male slave was considered a trouble maker, the slave master would give that slave a severe beating. Once the slave was beaten basically unconscious, the slave master made the other slaves lay him over a tree stump where his pants would be taken off and the slave owner would perform sodomy on that slave. Enslaved men were forced to have sex with each other in front of their families and they were also raped in front of their sons. Many of these men would kill themselves or run away after this happened to them. However buck breaking was not only used to stop potential slave rebellions.

Black men were also raped for pleasure. Gay people are not a product of modern “liberals.” Gays and lesbians have always been part of the world community. Gay slave owners existed. Gay slave owners bought male slaves. Gay slave owners raped their slaves. Buck breaking got so good to some that “Sex Farms” were created to breed black men for gay white men to have sex with. Gay white men would travel from plantation to plantation in order to rape slaves. I really do not know any other way to describe this because the black men involved really had no choice in what was happening to them.

As I wrote earlier, breeding factories were in business to increase the population of black people by forcing them to have sex in order to maintain cheap slave labor. We don't fully understand the mentality of those people. Slavery was also voluntary, agricultural colonization was the resettlement of slaves, and the slaves were happy with this.
Not all slaves rebelled, but only those who were from enslaved peoples. Unfortunately, slavery is a way of life that shaped the mentality of agricultural peoples.

So what do the actual numbers of black slave owners and their slaves tell us? In 1830, the year most carefully studied by Carter G. Woodson, about 13.7 percent (319,599) of the black population was free. Of these, 3,776 free Negroes owned 12,907 slaves, out of a total of 2,009,043 slaves owned in the entire United States, so the numbers of slaves owned by black people over all was quite small by comparison with the number owned by white people. In his essay, " 'The Known World' of Free Black Slaveholders," Thomas J. Pressly, using Woodson's statistics, calculated that 54 (or about 1 percent) of these black slave owners in 1830 owned between 20 and 84 slaves; 172 (about 4 percent) owned between 10 to 19 slaves; and 3,550 (about 94 percent) each owned between 1 and 9 slaves. Crucially, 42 percent owned just one slave.

Pressly also shows that the percentage of free black slave owners as the total number of free black heads of families was quite high in several states, namely 43 percent in South Carolina, 40 percent in Louisiana, 26 percent in Mississippi, 25 percent in Alabama and 20 percent in Georgia. So why did these free black people own these slaves?

It is reasonable to assume that the 42 percent of the free black slave owners who owned just one slave probably owned a family member to protect that person, as did many of the other black slave owners who owned only slightly larger numbers of slaves. As Woodson put it in 1924's Free Negro Owners of Slaves in the United States in 1830, "The census records show that the majority of the Negro owners of slaves were such from the point of view of philanthropy. In many instances the husband purchased the wife or vice versa … Slaves of Negroes were in some cases the children of a free father who had purchased his wife. If he did not thereafter emancipate the mother, as so many such husbands failed to do, his own children were born his slaves and were thus reported to the numerators."

Moreover, Woodson explains, "Benevolent Negroes often purchased slaves to make their lot easier by granting them their freedom for a nominal sum, or by permitting them to work it out on liberal terms." In other words, these black slave-owners, the clear majority, cleverly used the system of slavery to protect their loved ones.

You might crunch some numbers, the interviews were done in 1937, the interviewees would be eighty two years old IF they were born the year slavery ended. To have the memories they claim, they would have to over a hundred years old in 1937. So what if American slaves had children who became slaves. Every culture that held slaves enslaved the children born to slaves. You are always trying to make slavery in America unique and uniquely horrible when it wasn’t. I agree that by modern standards slavery was evil and reprehensible, but you can’t morally judge past actions by current standards. Prior to the nineteenth century everyone held slaves and the US was the only country to fight a bloody war to end the practice. The US and RN were the countries that operated the naval anti-slaving patrols that choked off the supply of slaves at the source and went a long way towards making slavery economically unfeasible. Believe whatever nonsense you like, but it was the actions of idealistic white people that ended slavery in the western world. The supply line of history rarely lies. If the ancestors of people who enslaved people owe reparations to the ancestors of those who were enslaved, then perhaps it is time for a “conversation” -- as the left likes to put it -- about paying reparations to the descendants of people who fought and died to help free enslaved people.
Someone ought to put the question to CNN’s Don Lemon -- who endlessly lectures about the moral necessity of paying reparations to the descendants of the enslaved -- even if the people who will be “asked’ (another term the left likes to use when the left means forced) to pay them not only had nothing to do with enslaving anyone but had ancestors who fought and died to free the enslaved.
Thus was Don Lemon schooled by Hilary Fordwich, an expert on the British Royal family, who was recently interview-attacked by Lemon following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. She had come to discuss the royal succession. Lemon invited her there to gaslight her about “

Lemon’s response to being schooled about the truth? “Well, that’s an interesting concept.”
Perhaps Lemon should check the facts first. History shows that only 5% of all slaves brought to the Americas came to the US. The other 95% went to Central America South America and the Caribbean. Why do the blacks in those places never cry for reparations?
Answer: No Maoist/DSA Democrat Commies pushing their racist agenda.

Lemon was not schooled.

Approximately 400,00 Africans were shipped to America by 1808. By 1860, there were 4 million blacks here. Africans dif not create 9 times more blacks than got shipped here. Whites breeding slaves did. Africans did not create Black Codes. Africans did not create Jim Crow by the Plessy decision and Africans are not practicing systemic racism now. That Englishman was disingenuous but thats how racists do things. The British army was posted in Africa and not every African that ended up a slave was sold willingly by other Africans. The English gave favored tribes guns to use in exchange for war captives in a whole lot of cases.

Seems like this part of the story evades some white people.
