The investigation focused on allegations that Trump and his associates inflated property values to secure favorable loans and insurance terms.
In September 2023, a New York judge ruled that Trump and his companies had committed fraud over several years. The judge ordered the termination of certain business licenses and the dissolution of some companies involved.
As of December 2025, Trump has been found liable for fraud, but the appeals process regarding the penalties is ongoing.
