Wow just wow. The ACLU is claiming that the Democrat leadership in the state and in the city caused the violence.
That the Democrat leadership wanted the violence. Others have claimed this as well. That the key D's were pissed off that the rally was allowed by the Judge and that they wanted the violence to be able to declare the rally an unlawful assembly.
YOWZAH!
The independent Virginia branch of the ACLU is blaming inaction by the police working under Charlottesville’s Democratic government for the street brawls which injured many participants and killed one young woman.
The fighting between white-power groups and the left-wing progressives began while the city police stood aside, even thought the police knew about the planned demonstrations months in advance.
The fighting escalated when the city police forced the fascist demonstrators to walk through a gantlet of masked, black-clad and armed “Antifa” progressives.
7. It is the responsibility of to ensure safety of all protesters. The policing on Saturday was not effective in preventing violence.

9. was standing passively by, seemingly waiting for violence to take place, so that they'd have grounds to declare 'unlawful assembly'.

Investigators and reporters are still trying to untangle the circumstances and decisions that led to the street brawls on Saturday.
The ACLU tweets were sent in response to efforts by the city’s Democratic major and Virginia’s Democratic governor to fix the blame for the Weimar Republic-style street fighting on the ACLU and its long-standing support for people’s right to protest in public."
