That is about it. I read somewhere by someone who would know that before issuing a decision by the court, each judge writes their opinion and passes it around for the others to read as it may influence their decision as well, and that Amy Coney Barrett would not have written her dis of Jackson had the other members of the court thought anything well of her as an actual justice.

But then, remember, this is the woman who when asked, could not say what a woman was.

KBJ was in my HS graduating class.

Swear. She was class President as I recall. #29 in GPA.

1,2,3, and 29 went to Harvard.

We did not interact. I do not think I had her in any classes. I was a jock, she was one of those involved in all the fruity shit.

But, she was well liked and respected as I recall.

We had some Venn diagram circle of friends that crossed over, but I dont think I ever said a word to her, the class was like 750 kids.

Kinda cool to have a SCOTUS classmate. I just wish she was one of the good guys!

We wouldn't have gone through the last several months of total judicial bullshit, if she had made the correct ruling in the first place.

From my understanding they are assigned by the Chief Justice. Of course there is likely some "Volunteering" going on as well.
So....what we have is a "cat fight" going on between two female Justices. (Unsurprising)
But on grounds of Law that anyone who can tell the difference between a Law Book and a U-Line catalog would know.

This is basic government that even 3rd graders know.

Which is why Jerome Powell is packing up his office and getting ready to be fired. Looking forward to his new Job where he can make money somewhat legally for a while.

If it’s volunteering then the other two liberal justices had nothing better to offer and let that broad hang herself. It seems like voluntary judicial suicide was all they had left and Jackson was the one willing to do it.

Good question. I don't imagine everyone writes a dissenting opinion so I would guess the chief justice PICKS one person to write her dissent among those who have one. It was the view of the person I read that because the other five justices agreed with the decision, that they in effect agreed with her dissent of Jackson as well otherwise they would not have signed off on it.

Anyone can write a Concurring or Dissenting Opinion. Sotomayor wrote one in this case. Kagan and Brown joined in that opinion (they agreed with the opinion). Neither Sotomayor nor Kagen joined in Brown's Dissent.
