No, it's ok to lock up people who violate a law.

No, it's not okay to charge someone(let alone hundreds of people) with a heinous crime(they did not commit) that could lock them up for decades when their only violation was something akin to trespassing or disturbing the peace. That's draconian. We don't do that in THIS country. That's the type of stuff they do in commie, left-wing banana republics. A corrupt effort to pull that stunt by Biden's DOJ is why ALL J6 protestors are now free. You can't target people illegally and not expect electoral backlash in a free nation.

If courts determine that law is unconstitutional then it would be wrong to prosecute people on that law.

No, if something is unconstitutional and/or illegal then it is ALWAYS wrong to do it. Do you think lynchings in the south 100 years ago were okay because prosecutors chose to look the other way towards the lynchers? Wrong is wrong. Trying to scrub history and pretend illegal actions were okay because someone said so wilts under honest scrutiny. This is particularly true when bias and bigotry are cleary involved (such as Biden's DOJ going after supporters of his primary political foe). The political motive here was as clear as racism was the motive behind black lynchings. You got caught and America responded in kind. Far past time to own it.

Your argument is like saying segregated schools were illegal before 1954 when Brown v. Board of Education determined segregated schools were in violation of the Constitution.

Except for the fact that segregation was almost uniformly a way of life in some areas of the country(if not most of the country) before this landmark decision. Biden's corrupt DOJ hijacking a law and twisting it in a way that it had never before been used nor intended is nowhere near the same. It was a politically motivated hitjob. No one has been outed by others as having been part of it.
