I believe he emerged from the darkness retreat with a clear plan. Take the deal with the Jets. I heard $75 million guaranteed. But don't train, knowing you are actually done playing football. But you can't quit. So how do you get them to pay you that much and stop playing football? Fake an injury on the first series of the game. Has to be right away or else people will see you have lost it. So obvious. Brilliant. Turns out this darkness retreat paid off.
