I am in favor of allowing the public to do whatever they want. No "banning" anything in the public realm.
Government should not be engaged in such nonsense as affirmative action or dei.
Non-government entities should be free to make whatever plays they see fit to make. They have the freedom to fail at being profitable, or successful.

I don't see how this question relates to your OP, and hate to see you derail your own thread. I thought we were talking about casting in a play.

DEI is not fair. However prohibiting a private company from production and presentation of a play the way they choose to is also not fair.
Basically, they spend THEIR gold, we don't really have any say over it other than not buying a ticket. They are also free to go broke, if the play flops. So....I tried to stay more on topic, while at the same time answering the seemingly off topic question you asked above.
Life, in the abstract, is not fair. It never was and never will be.

Just so everybody knows, this isn't exactly against Cynthia Erivo herself as she is massively talented but she should obviously stick to female type roles. OhPleaseJustQuit this is what I was talking about as she got a grand slam with this one and this is probably the hardest Broadway song and song in general to sing and yet she still slayed it. Dare I say that she's even better than the original singer.
