Carla Bley has passed away.
An icon of the progressive jazz movement beginning in the 1960s, conductor, composer, keyboardist, singer, and creator of the Jazz Composer's Guild, perhaps best know for the pivotal mega-jazz-rock opera Escalator Over The Hill, Carla had worked with many notables and luminaries including Gary Burton, Don Cherry, Jack Bruce, John McLaughlin, Nick Mason, and many others during her life.
Carla was 87.
