The case was contentious indeed, it was also beyond the pale on the sentencing. While I personally think the guy deserved to be convicted of a crime the sentence was absolutely wrong. He should never have been sentenced to 10 years.

That the State changed the law proves that, that they would not free him after changing the law was just as stupid.

He was involved in a lot more than just consentual sex with a 15 year old, he was running with a gang, the whole incident was disgusting, he basicly raped a girl and got off on a technicality ( she was drunk and passed out) you would need to pull up all the stuff that was also going on at the particular "party". It was in the press back then. On another board we discussed it alot for a couple months.

In the end though the charge they got him for and Especially the time they slapped him with were ignorant. 10 years for getting a blow job from a 15 year old, when he was 17 was just crazy.
