I think this works in Trump’s favor. Now that he’s been “sentenced,” his lawyers can begin the appeal process.

In any event, he was effectively acquitted by the American voters on November 5. Two weeks from this very moment, we will have President Trump back in office, and patriotic Americans can breathe a sight of relief.

Sentencing is supposed to be this Friday. Last week's decision was just denying the final motion to vacate.

The decisions on motions to vacate that were denied are appealable, but Trump will need one judge on the appeals court to give permission first. (They are post-trial motions, so they are not appealable by right)

If that does not happen, presumably the Martian will hand down the sentence on Friday, and the regular appeal can move forward.
