A bitter pill from the heartland.

Aside from the usual lies about "cutting Social Security," the main thrust of the Democrats 2024 "campaign" is to convince America that Trump is, to put it mildly, a bad person. Orange Man Bad, so to speak.

They don't mention any of Trump's policies, because Americans are generally in favor of all of them. They cannot cite their own policies, because nobody would want them if fully exposed. On that front, they just lie about how wonderful the country is doing. And of course, they lie about Biden's failing mental health.

That's it: Orange Man Bad.

Many people, such as the op, are clearly stupid enough to fall for all of it. There is no reasoning with them, they are incapable of reasoning, and if they propagate to larger numbers then the principles that founded this country are over.

There is no hope for spambot SJW soi bois like you, all you can do is post other people's bullshit, and pretend to understand it.
I can see posting what you know is true but can't openly admit has upset you. Reading the column has hit too close to home for you. Now is the time for self reflection, not vitriol.

Concern troll is concerned.

The piece is nothing different than the thousands of others we have seen from the MSM, except now they are toning down their disgust to look like pity.

It's still the same old Dem hate for the "deplorables" wearing a new hat.

You have no idea how silly you sound as a follower of an inveterate liar.

Our Trump reporting upsets some readers, but there aren’t two sides to facts: Letter from the Editor

A more-than-occasional arrival in the email these days is a question expressed two ways, one with dripping condescension and the other with courtesy:

Why don’t our opinion platforms treat Donald Trump and other politicians exactly the same way. Some phrase it differently, asking why we demean the former president’s supporters in describing his behavior as monstrous, insurrectionist and authoritarian. I feel for those who write. They believe in Trump and want their local news source to recognize what they see in him.

The angry writers denounce me for ignoring what they call the Biden family crime syndicate and criminality far beyond that of Trump. They quote news sources of no credibility as proof the mainstream media ignores evidence that Biden, not Trump, is the criminal dictator. The courteous writers don’t go down that road. They politely ask how we can discount the passions and beliefs of the many people who believe in Trump.

This is a tough column to write, because I don’t want to demean or insult those who write me in good faith. I’ve started it a half dozen times since November but turned to other topics each time because this needle hard to thread. No matter how I present it, I’ll offend some thoughtful, decent people.

The north star here is truth. We tell the truth, even when it offends some of the people who pay us for information.

The truth is that Donald Trump undermined faith in our elections in his false bid to retain the presidency. He sparked an insurrection intended to overthrow our government and keep himself in power. No president in our history has done worse.

I can't help being hopeful when a column like that is published. Quixotically so I'm afraid. Any time the simple truth is written as an appeal to Trump supporters to nudge them towards reality I kid myself in to believing it is the one that's going to get through. Probably because I want it to so badly.

Chris Quinn, the author, has apparently received an unusual amount of positive feedback from the piece. Perhaps because his genuine attempt not to offend comes through. I hope it makes a difference.
A Democrat that doesn’t support Trump? How shocking!

The article wasn't about policy differences. It was about how Trump supporters object to reading factual content about the guy they support. Much the same as Trump supporters on this board.

Where are the insurrection charges?? If there are none, then your op ed blatantly lied, why do you listen to lies?

An honest examination of the facts reveals some parallels between Hitler's rise to power, as noted in the book referenced by Quinn, and Trump. For example, how many prominent Repubs have come out and denounced Don's attacks on members of the justice system and their families? Mitch McConnell was initially harsh in his assessment of Trump after the 1/6 insurrection. Then he voted to acquit after the impeachment trial and endorsed Don for prez because he thought he could use Trump's presidency to advance a personal agenda.

See how the comparison has merit?

No

Keep up with the "you are too stupid to understand" method of trying to convince Trump voters to vote otherwise...

It works so well....

They quote actual journalism that is not Democrat Media approved.
I can see where that is a problem for the Cleveland Plain Dealer - (ps - Cleveland is not the Heartland)

It’s a Democrat bashing Maga, that happens everyday on this board. I find Democrats and Republicans pretty much the same dumb group. Tell me another nation that has two people with cognitive issues and are in their 80’s running for President? We need new blood in politics, I won’t vote for either dementia patient.

I'm not sure anarchy is the answer. BTW, there is no deep state. It's a construct of Steve Bannon's making to facilitate his desire to tear our system of democracy down.

Idiotic response -
Your Bible of record - confirmed that the Deep State Exists.
They said it was a positive thing-
