"The vote was 65-34, with 15 GOP senators joining Democrats to break the filibuster. The same 15 GOP senators who voted to break the filibuster voted to approve the measure on final passage."

The bill absolutely does infringe upon the rights of certain people to own guns. To wit: Certain partners convicted of domestic abuse. It addresses the Boyfriend Loophole:

"This bill closes a years-old loophole in domestic violence law – the “boyfriend loophole” – that barred individuals who were convicted of domestic violence crimes against married partners, or partners with whom they shared children or partners with whom they cohabitated, from having guns. Old statutes didn’t include intimate partners who may not live together, be married or share children. Now, the law will bar from having a gun anyone who is convicted of a domestic violence crime against someone they have a “continuing serious relationship of a romantic or intimate nature.”

Also, the bill works toward closing the Gun Show Loophole:

"The bill goes after individuals who sell guns as primary sources of income but have previously evaded registering as federally licensed firearms dealers. "

It's progress. It's noteworthy. It's a dense bill. It also addresses mental health and crisis intervention. The CNN article is worth the read, I promise.

Kinda like Trump's ban on bump stops. Was there some rash of crimes being committed with them?

But progress nonetheless.
On mental health....who become judge, jury and executioner? On anything else like domestic violence like you typed...who becomes judge, jury and executioner? Those two issues can be very docile in circumstances.

And you’ve got 34 Republicans exhibiting the dishonesty and stupidity of the right.

Conservatives are lying about ‘red flag’ laws being ‘un-Constitutional’ – when in fact no court has invalidated such measures.

And we’re hearing the usual idiotic slippery slope fallacies from the right, conservatives propagating moronic lies about ‘law-abiding’ Americans not being allowed to purchase firearms.

Conservativism is the true threat to America; the right has nothing but contempt for – and is incapable of – sound, responsible governance.

They will if implemented. We don't go by the idea of guilty until you prove yourself innocent.

I believe judges will be the judges. Crazy, I know. ;)
