Oh, he is part of the Medical Mafia. He works in a ckinic. The only way he'd ever be arrested is if we blabbed about him performing "private" services for us.

I have treated a shit-ton of hypertensives and people with respiratory issues, colds, as well as some neurological issues like insomnia and restless leg syndrome. People who respect and trust me and know how to keep their mouths shut.

Before the Medical Mafia existed, we were mostly our own doctors -- our moms and aunties delivered our babies and treated just about everything but broken bones and gunshot wounds -- that's what Doc Adams did.

Same here. There are a lot of medical professionals among my family and friends and we have gotten a lot of competent medical treatment off the books and under the table from them. No way we would ever report anybody doing that to anybody because it's just the decent thing to do when the situation is appropriate for it. Why take the time and aggravation to go to urgent care or wait in the doctor's office to get stitches removed when my R.N. neighbor or aunt is perfectly capable of safely and competently doing that in the comfort of their or my living room? (If I can see and reach them, I know how to do that myself.)

But it's a crying shame that the general practitioner that could diagnose, treat and prescribe for almost all our medical needs and occasionally for our sick puppy is no longer with us. You now have to go to different specialists for your warts or foot problem or pain in your knee or rash or cough or whatever. The medical care is no better mind you but it costs a hell of a lot more.

(I won't even get into the high cost of veterinary care these days but it's also outrageous.)

You're one of the lucky ones.

I got to work for one of those doctors when I was in my 20's. His patients were largely farmers and he would accept garden truck and chickens and eggs for payment. Occasionally, he would barter for some big procedure and would get several hundred pounds of produce or meat, and the best part of the job was going to his house and helping his wife do a major canning job. I learned so much from him about medicine, and from his wife about putting food by.

The only way to live. It's a shame that so few people now know about this way of life.

Exactly. And if you had an emergency out of normal office hours, that general practitioner would come to our house to check out the fever or whatever. When is the last time you heard of any doctor making a house call? Now they tell you to go to E.R. or urgent care.

I loved it! It was a beautiful way to live.

I started my pre-med studies but then I saw the beginning of the changes that were looming in the medical field and decided I was not going to want to practice medicine in the world I saw coming.

I did some volunteer work for the hospital when I was in high school and ruled out medicine as a career because seeing intense suffering of people was extremely traumatic for me. I didn't think I could get past that to do what was necessary and a less direct profession such as pharmacist didn't appeal to me. My calling was elsewhere.

The Germans make good stuff. ;)

just heard from the doctor,,

he wants an additional 1200 bucks for his cut,,

so that brings it close to 10K to remove little cyst on my thumb,,

I can only imagine what the cost is to remove a few skin tags

I'd just hang out with Veterans and ask who they know who was a medic.

Or learn to do it myself.

Screw the medical ghouls. Many folks have thanked me for helping them get off of BP medications and dangerous anxiety drugs.

I would do it myself but for it being on one hand,, cant stitch it back up with one hand and my wife sure wont do it,,

I will live with it before I let them fleece me nd my ins co for that much

I do plan to call the ins co and discuss this with them

If you were close to me, I'd be happy to do it.

Cysts are no fun, but being screwed by the "medical" ghouls is less fun.

I was just informed that it is going to cost 8K to remove a little cist from my thumb,,

what is usually a 15 minute procedure in the doctors office now thanks to government rules can no ,longer be done in office and requires a surgical unit to perform it,,

funny thing is the place that does it is undergoing a multi million dollar upgrade with more rooms and fees,,

gotta love the government,, they cause a problem and then offer themselves as a solution,,
What rule exactly from the government regulates surgery procedures? Sounds fishy to me. Did you get a second opinion?

If you have the money, you can still get house calls only now its called Concierge Care.

I had the wonderful experience, right out of school, to work for a doctor who would accept a bushel of garden truck for payment and made house calls regularly. He was the kind of doctor I wanted to be.

We don't have that kind of money. When our general practitioner still made house calls he charged the same for a house call as an office visit.

Healthcare in the US is a privilege, it's a Right in the UK and Europe.

When I was very little sometimes staying with my grandparents in New York Dr. Bruck made housecalls for whatever he got. He had no office, just a little apartment somewhere in the teeming mess that was Harlem.
