Children are being sent unaccompanied to the border, some of them dont make it and others are abused, .. we can talk about the burden being put on the border patrol and how they are not able to focus on other things like Drugs.. and human trafficking. Also things that cost lives.

When an American parent breaks the law and is arrested they are separated from their children.
Their children are usually placed with a family member, but they could also be placed in a foster home.

No, because it is totally different. They weren't separated with no due process when first arriving, and with no good system to reunite the or to know where any of them went. We are still trying to reunite the families separated under the Trump policy. This is likely true, no matter what the court decides is proper restitution, if any at all, in this case, BECAUSE there are many families that were able to be reunited with their children fairly quickly, who had no real harm done....there are still a couple of hundred children missing, and never found, to reunite with their parents....10 months in to the Biden admin, with a special task force searching.
It would not surprise me if these parents, and ones where children were missing for over a year, don't get some kind of compensation for our govt's negligence in record keeping, when they separated them, and the mental harm the children went through, not being able to in the least, speak with their parents.
The $450k seems like pure speculation. There has been no decision by the court or deal made yet, before the court makes an even bigger amount... A plea will cut the projected court ruling amount,that's why plea deals outside of court rulings are made.
