Yeah, wish I knew.

The version posted is just a studio recording laid over the video from Midnight Special. Of course the studio recording is musically better, but the original has lots more soul. But then my preference is probably because I love the indian stuff.

I work with an act that does this R.L. Burnside tune and the bass player lays that Redbone Indian chanting over the top. It actually works…

I remember it, but it sounds different from the one I remember hearing -- certainly 50 years ago, or more.

Don't care much for the schlockiness of it, but I didn't catch that way back when I was just a few years old.

We sometimes listened to songs from a while back.
In the early1960s my friend and I used to sing it while walking down the street to the candy store or theatre.
