It is not illegal to cross US borders at any point IF seeking asylum. Only an immigration court can make the determination wether that is a valid claim or not. If it is not a valid claim they are immediately arrested and deported. Therefore there are never any illegal immigrants in America. All we have is documented and undocumented immigrants.
