Funny. Iraq "requested" our help - therefore, our troops are not under Iraq legal authority.

They are under legal authority. Iraq provided Diplomatic Letters which are recognized as legal agreements to treat all US Forces under the same diplomatic immunity as is given to Embassy personnel. If an individual is accused of committing a crime the only recourse Iraq would have would be to demand the individual leave the country. They are immune from prosecution.

So the original talking point was bullshit.
