He offered minor election officials a trip to the White House and a visit to the Oval Office....Bribery

Trump criticized specific officials who didn’t back home s demands on Twitter. Those officials were subject to death threats...Coercion

The topic of this thread is Trump's POST-ELECTION attack on democracy.

The only evidence abundantly available is of Trump and certain Republicans trying every trick in the book to steal the 2020 election.

You may disagree with me but at the end of the day only one of us will be right. With a multitude of Trump/Republican law suits already thrown out of various courts, including SCOTUS either due to lack of credible evidence or merit, it is clear that it is Trump/Republicans attempting to hijack the 2020 election and the presidency.

Although I certainly have contempt for democracy, Trump has never demonstrated any such contempt. Swindling an election is showing contempt for democratic institutions.

Why would someone who has contempt for democracy care about elections, who won, who lost and who swindled an election? Such a person would abstain from voting altogether so why the keen interest in your case?

This fails as a red herring fallacy – the thread is about Trump’s attack on democracy, not Obama.

This failed attempt to deflect is of course understandable, given the fact Trump’s corruption and contempt for our democratic institutions cannot be defended.

What corruption? Having contempt for Democrats and the fake news media is not the same thing as having contempt for "democratic insitutions." Although I certainly have contempt for democracy, Trump has never demonstrated any such contempt. Swindling an election is showing contempt for democratic institutions.

It’s abundantly clear that Trump and his supporters have nothing but contempt for democracy.

Democracy, and even the Democratic Republic this nation was founded as, are failed systems. The main component necessary for those systems to succeed (an Educated, Informed, and Involved electorate) no longer exists in this country.

With that understanding, we must ask ourselves... What best replaces the Republic? Apparently our two options are a Progressive Socialist government or an Ultra-Conservative Authoritarian Meritocracy. I know which one I prefer.
