Senate Republicans forced a vote on an amendment today that would have denied federal aid to the poisoned children of Flint, Michigan. What is even more deplorable is that 47 Senate Republicans voted not help lead poisoned children.

The Coates Amendment to the Energy and Water Agencies Appropriations Act failed by a vote of 48-49. All Senate Democrats, with the exception of Sen. Claire McCaskill (MO) voted against the amendment. Five Republicans Sens. Lisa Murkowski (AK), Bill Cassidy (LA), Rob Portman (OH), Lamar Alexander (TN) and Dean Heller (NV) joined with Democrats in voting against the amendment, but 47 Senate Republicans voted not to provide federal aid for children that were poisoned by the decisions of Michigan’s Republican governor.

Flint's democratic mayor diverted water-crisis money to political PAC, suit says

In the suit filed Monday, fired administrator Natasha Henderson claims that in February 2016, Flint's current mayor, Karen Weaver, directed a former city employee and a city volunteer to stop directing potential donors to a charity called Safe Water/Safe Homes. That charity was run by the Community Foundation of Greater Flint and had been approved by the city for water-crisis donations.
Instead, the lawsuit claims city employee Maxine Murray was directed by Weaver to begin directing donations to "Karenabout Flint." According to the lawsuit, Murray came to Henderson "in tears" and in fear of "going to jail.

Tax payers of Flint should be demanding to know where FORTY YEARS of property taxes went that should have been used for upgrades. Who has that money? How did they get it?

One simply needs to look at their last 5 decades of Democratic Party government and their comrades to see where the money went.

So the Republican response to children with lead poisoning is.....Not my problem

Sorry stupid, that is not true. The city had not upgraded their main water lines in fifty years. They collected taxes/fees and bills for it but never re-invested in upgrades.
No stupid ass...who made the decision to switch from the Detroit water system to the Flint River???

Darnell Earley: The man in power during Flint switch

But much of the spotlight has been on Earley, the longtime urban administrator and expert who had previously worked in Flint, because he was in charge during the transition from Detroit’s water system to the Flint River while a new Karegnondi Water Authority was built.

“At no time did the water department staff, Mayor Walling, the City Council, or the state petition me to halt, slow, or otherwise modify the implementation of the plan. Nor at any point and time during the preparation for the switch, did I receive any information that would even remotely indicate that the use of the Flint River was unsafe in any way,” he wrote in prepared remarks released Monday by the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Here's the problem with that: City officials did not drive the decision to take water from the Flint River. There was never such a vote by the city council, which really didn't have the power to make such a decision anyway, because the city was under the control of a state-appointed emergency manager.

The council's vote in March 2013 was to switch water supply from Detroit to a new pipeline through the Karegnondi Water Authority – but the pipeline wasn't scheduled to be completed for at least three years. (And even that decision was given final approval not by the council, but by then-state Treasurer Andy Dillon, according to Snyder emails released Wednesday.)

Here's a letter from then-emergency manager Darnell Earley saying Flint was choosing to use Flint water instead of Detroit water.

I can't say I'm surprised. they kept money away from 9./11 first responders, too, and now they're refusing money to combat zika, while telling women they should have babies with the resultant horrible birth defects.

Money doesn't combat disease. Common sense does. By the way, let's be honest, how much water do ghetto folks actually drink? Based on the obesity levels they drink mostly diet coke. :p The "lead poisoning" canard is a myth in propagated to rationalize subpar performing students.
