I have wondered if when we finally REALLY crack down on gangs, we will discover that the gangs are as rampant in PD's, local government and business as the Mafia was in its day. Can't think of any other reason why they have been running so rampant for so long.Sometimes out of sheer frustration, I think the same thing. There has to be a better way, though. They're human. Some of them were probably just walking to a neighbor's, or to the bus, or to buy a gallon of milk. I don't understand why this shit is allowed to go on. Unless the pols don't care anymore than you do.Did you read this link? It's a war zone in Chicago. They need to bring in the National Guard. or something. It's only 7:40AM there on Sunday now and 40 shot so far.
40 people shot so far this Memorial Day weekend in Chicago
Nah, let them thin the herd. It's a benefit to society
I have posted an article on gangs and politicians in chicago...the gangs literally pick their Aldermen.......then they go to city hall and protect the gangs interests when it comes to police resources.........
Pretty doubtful. What is your point? The Hells Angels ran out the NYC gangs when they tried to set up shop here in the 80's. It can work, but it was pretty bloody. And why can't we do more to break up these gangs? The prison my son works at is full of them, and the majority of inmates there aren't getting out for a very long time, if ever. A complete break down of our ability to stop criminals is more the problem.Jon, do you think most of them even saw the shot coming? Probably not. The trick isn't to arm more people in Chicago. It is to DISARM the gangs and the kids who have the guns illegally.
wont happen
as long as there are gangs
there is going to be violence
the government is not going to solve the problem
certainly not by limiting the honest folks ability to defend themselves
i do agree that the issue is much larger then then guns
that is more of a complete breakdown of decent society
it takes a community to do that
there has been a few success stories over the years
it wasnt the government doing it
it was the people of the area that stepped in and took control
and ran the gangs off
Notice.....the Hells Angels did not obey the laws when they dealt with the rival gangs did they?
We can't afford that unless we let a bunch of people already in prison, out. What IS the answer?Sometimes out of sheer frustration, I think the same thing. There has to be a better way, though. It's because they hate the answer more than they hate the problem. That single fact explains it all.
The answer is simple....Japan stopped Yakuza violence this way....get caught with an illegal gun...30 years in jail.....now even the Yakuza bosses are afraid to even look at a gun....
Long prison sentences are the only way to stop this violence.....nothing else will work.

"REALLY" cracking down on gangs is like waging a war against guerrillas/insurgents. Unless "the people" fully cooperate and support the local government, the "insurgency" will continue to survive.I have wondered if when we finally REALLY crack down on gangs, we will discover that the gangs are as rampant in PD's, local government and business as the Mafia was in its day. That was the Israeli answer to Palestinian groups. Guess what happened? The strongest terrorist group won and became larger and more powerful to fight against Israel. Not the optimal solution.Let 'em kill each other, the more killed, the fewer we'll need to worry about later.
Seriously folks, no one in their right mind would drive into one of these neighborhoods, so if we do turn our backs and let 'em go at it, it's not as if we're giving something up anyway.
LIBs abhore even the thought of 'trying' anything to stop the inner city violence. We don't need more laws. We need to enforce the laws we've got. So, gangs and teenagers with their pants around their knees are beyond our ability to control? I don't think we've tried.Jon, do you think most of them even saw the shot coming? Probably not. you see for the most part
these folks are not allowed to defend themselves
and must rely on the government to protect them
which usually shows up minutes to hours after they have been shot dead
That's never going to happen. You can make laws all day long and it's never going to happen
There is only one solution:You are great at criticizing. Tell us the answer, then. The constructive answer.Yes, an area of some of the strictest gun control in country. More gun control = more violence. Not if you live in South Chicago. There is many times the chance of dying from lighting strike, smoking in bed and falling out of bed than dying from a mass shooting...

So in your opinion would the "optimal solution" for Israel would have been not to build a wall? That was the Israeli answer to Palestinian groups. Guess what happened? Did the wall stop Palestinian terror attacks? No, it just slowed them down. Building a 1900+ mile wall, much of it through mountainous terrain, is a much more expensive and difficult to guard effort than a 430 mile wall around a city. That was the Israeli answer to Palestinian groups. The only reason there are any terrorist groups, dedicated to wiping Israel off the map, is because Iran continues to supply all the terrorist groups.
Without Iran the Palestinians would be throwing rocks over the wall.
Unfortunately since the vast majority of them are black, no one gives a shit, especially not Democrats. It's only 7:40AM there on Sunday now and 40 shot so far.

Though what you say is true, that is the nature of static obstacles. They dont absolutely prevent encroachment, but they do cause the criminals to spend more time and effort to get through and this give law enforcement more time to catch and neutralize them.Did the wall stop Palestinian terror attacks? Your Mexican cartel guns and drugs theory won't be stopped by a wall. They'll just continue bringing them in by submarine, boat or Canada.
While true, there are more effective and less expensive ways to curb illegal immigration and drug running. We should implement those first before building a monument to the stupidity of man.Though what you say is true, that is the nature of static obstacles. The quick and easy wall the Hungarians put up cut down their border crossing rate by more than 95%. That is a damned good reason to put one up over here just like it and it didnt cost them much time or money to build it.

Arresting, charging and, if convicted, imprisoning anyone who supports illegal immigration by employing, renting to or otherwise enticing foreigners to break our laws. While true, there are more effective and less expensive ways to curb illegal immigration and drug running. And what can reduce entry by 95% at the cost of putting up seven strands of concertina wire? I.e. at dirt cheap costs?
