1. What party are you registered as and why did you choose to register as this? GOP. I registered Republican to vote in 1976 primaries, I was running the campus campaign for the governor of my state.

2. How do you see your party as different or better than the others? I don't see it as 'better,' but I do agree with teh stated priorities of the GOP moreso than the Democrats.

3. Have you ever voted for a candidate belonging to a different party? If so, why? Quite often, though mostly at the state level. I've voted for D and L and I, often on all counts. Why? Because the individual matched up most consistently with my opinions.

4. If you'd like, you may list your name, occupation, and ethnic make-up. I'll skip the name besides the one on this site. I teach history. Irish.

Republican, because I am a conservative. While our Republicans don't always embody that ideology, the do so more often than Dems

2. How do you see your party as different or better than the others?

In terms of the parties themselves, I see very little difference in practice. When it comes to votes most politicians will sacrafice the ideals they claim to hold regardless of party affiliation. I think a conservative ideology is better than a liberal one, because it is more objective and logical.

3. Have you ever voted for a candidate belonging to a different party? If so, why?

Once for an independant

I'm a Brit, so I dont know if I count, but:

1: ALL POLITICIANS ARE LIERS and so I would never join a political party, but if forced to choose, then prob. the Green Party or something like that. However, if forced to choose Dem or Rep, then I would go Dem.

2: Green Parties have sensibly come to the conclusion that economic growth is not necessarily good - that makes them different from virtually all other parties - and in my opinion (and the planet's too probably) better than the rest who seem to espouse greed, consumption and money.

3: I have never voted, because just like in the USA, unless u are a fan of the big 2 (or 3 in the UK) parties then there is no point because we don't have proportional representation.

I'm registered independent because ballot access laws make it virtually impossible for any "3rd Party" to be included. If I could, I'd be registered Libertarian.
2. How do you see your party as different or better than the others?
They actually have a very clear & understandable set of principles that dictate the actions & beliefs of the party. I don't think that's possible with the Reps or Dems. I do not agree with everything the Libertarian Party espouses, but they're the closest fit to my beliefs.
3. Have you ever voted for a candidate belonging to a different party? If so, why?
Yes. There are candidates in both the Dem and Rep party that are essentially Libertarians, but know they have a much better chance getting elected as Reps or Libs... there are Libertarian caucuses for both parties.

Not much difference except when it comes to taxes (where I prefer the Republicans). I see views on social issues as the primary difference (where I prefer the democrats)

Ronald Reagan (twice) ..... Dem candidates were just pathetic.

Half Breed.....(Irish/Filipino). Dad is American Irish once stationed in Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. Mom is Filipina. I'm primarily into Real Estate (sales & rentals).

1. What party are you registered as and why did you choose to register as this? Republican. Your average republican is more down to earth and nuts and bolts. Sometimes I will switch parties so I can vote for the worst guy in the opposing teams primary.

2. How do you see your party as different or better than the others? I don't. Mere crooks aspire to politics and sharks wish they had as many teeth. The citizens who make up the republican party tend more to pragmatic common sense. If you read my blog (in the signature line) you will see I prefer being a realist over [fill in label here].

3. Have you ever voted for a candidate belonging to a different party? If so, why? Yup. He was the lesser of the presented evils. I have also done write ins for "None" and "None of the above" when no choice was palatable.

Republican, because - once upon a time - the Republican Party used to contain these people known as "conservatives".

2. How do you see your party as different or better than the others?

Conservatism still has a prayer in the Republican Party; not so with the Democrats. Conservatism = respect for the U.S. Constitution.

Yes - for my local County Prosecutor (Democrat). My little town was the site of one of the worst mass murders in U.S. history. On Easter Sunday, 1975, James Rupert systematically murdered his mother, his visiting brother and sister-in-law, and their eight children. He shot them one by one - dispatching the adults first, and timing his shots to coincide with the ringing of the nearby church bells. As nearly as anyone was able to determine, his motive was his mother's insurance policy.

Democrat John Holcomb made one promise to the people of my county: he would make it his life's work to see to it that Rupert never collected a dime of that money. I think the local Republicans finally resorted to nominating fire hydrants to run against Holcomb.

Well , I am a non-American but I do understand something bout U.S politics. though I guess these answers wont help you much.
I support Bush's war on terror and his actions against N.K and Iran. Also , I support his Iraq agenda 50-50. Its a good thing Saddam was caught and hanged and that Iraq is a democracy.The deaths of so many soldiers in iraq shouldn't have happened. Bush should have foreseen this.

Back home in India I strictly support the Congress party led by Sonia Gandhi and PM Manmohan Singh. As soon as they got elected India's economy has seen a a big boom. Manmohan SIngh's cabinet has really done their job. It pays to have an Oxford graduate as our Prime Minister.Our military has been strengthened. Markets are on a constant rise. Our country has witnessed peace in the main cities (excluding Kashmir). No riots or communal cock ups.The Congress lead govt. is doing a great job. We also have one of the best Presidents in the world.

That was nice! I do think most of us here get that the other side isn't 'evil', in fact they are making their choices based on what they think is important.

Democrat--you can only effectively alter the course of such a populist, and patently statist, party from within.

The party I identify most with, is not a statist party and does not consider individual rights, and liberty for all, to be an impediment to prosperity.

I always vote other than the party I'm registered to--because I disagree with the principles of socialism.
