32 hour work week a massive blow to the dollar

I tried being home more than at work I found that I could not do it. For large part of my life I work 80 hours a week because we had seven kids and two refrigerators. When I finally settled down 40 hours a week I spent my newly freed up time renovating the family farm... when I was done with that I found that I had too much time on my hands....soooooo😎.

So, you stayed away at work up to 80 hours a week to be away from all those kids.

Why did you have that many kids if you did not want to be around them?

It would take some time to do the math but using the income formula for calculating GDP.... forcing more dollars out in return for fewer hours.... is an inevitable financial stab at the value of the unit.

The imagined gain in personal wages could soon be swept away by loss of dollar purchasing power.
Kind of like what happened when they increased the minimum wage to $20/hr.

Oh we still managed beach, little league baseball, sledding, ice hockey on the pond in winter and Yahtzee until the wee hours.
Doing the same with the grandkids now.

Any hours after 40 should be mandatory double time rather than time and a half.

With all the smart economists down in DC helping each administration make decisions you'd think somebody would clue them into the fact that you cant actually raise the minimum wage. Changing the number of dollars that shows up on the paycheck doesn't do it.

I'll sign on to that
Since rule of thumb says that an employee's benefit package virtually doubles their wage, they would just hire another employee and there would be no OT. Meh. Don't be surprised if people like Initforme get the work week reduced to 30 hours a week like banks did which results in NO BENEFITS. Have fun with your vacations and health insurance premiums.

Inflation just eats all the gains and the rat race continues.

Where is yer research and numbers?

Well it stands to reason that if you pay out more wage for less work that you're putting inflationary pressure on the unit.

I don't need to refer to a PhD economist for common sense.

Having said that who knows what would happen if we tried it we might be surprised. But I doubt it.
