The U.S. Department of Education has been in existence since May 1980.
The Department was created by President Jimmy Carter in 1979.
Total of Department of Education gross revenue: $3,923,895,156,000 since 1980.

As of now, the United States education ranking is in the 13th place with a score of 0.883, trailing behind countries like Germany (2nd) and New Zealand (3rd).

So as well as USAID expenditures used to tear down the USA, the Department of Education is now a target.

Trump wants to eliminate the Department of Education. Here's how that would impact students

For the 2025 fiscal year, the Department of Education has a $103 billion budget. Nearly $69 billion, about 67% of the total, goes to Federal Student Aid, which helps students pay for college or career training.

If it served a purpose of bettering our children then we should keep it. Otherwise, off with it's head.

Which explains why tuitions for college and career training have risen through the stratosphere, students are paying more for LESS education while universities are padding their trust funds and administrative staff budgets off of taxpayer money.

The current DoE aid budget needs to be dramatically trimmed and allocated directly to the states while ditching the department itself, ever since the Federal Government got involved directly in education outcomes have worsened, it's a no brainer to get the Feds out of it and leave it up to state and local government.

The Educational Establishment in this Country is the biggest grift in Human History. From $90K a year Teachers, to $750k a year perfessors it is the biggest rip ever known to Humanity.

Families go deep into debt so their spawn can get a useless piece of paper and all it's good for is getting a job at Starbucks. And the kid is left with a $100k ++$$++ College Loan debt and all the Diploma is good for is -- Well, nothing. Nothing at all. Zero. Zip. Nada. Plumbers make more. My Handy Man made $200K last year (he does some serious re-models, though). My buddy's kid is a welder and he makes $100k a year. Another buddy of mine, his kid got a Law Degree. He's making $75k and hates his job. HATES it.

Unless you're in College to get a STEM degree or a Health Worker degree or something similar, all these Liberal Arts degrees are less than useless.

Getting a Liberal Arts Degree decades ago wasn't a bad idea. Not back then. When there were few people with College Degrees. Just having a degree back then made you stand out.

Today, everybody's got a degree in something. Usually a totally useless POS degree and a massive College Loan hanging from their neck like an Albatross.

Academia is part of the criminal cabal. Do with it what you want. But you have been warned

Nothing causes higher price hikes than the Federal government making things more affordable.

All the above is meaningless until you get the President does not have the authority to EO is out of existence.

The courts will decide.

I would be all for keeping the Dept. of Education and getting rid of the Teachers Union.
But, we all know that would be a fools errand to even attempt getting rid of the cancer.

I agree the education system from DOE to the smallest school district in the nation needs reform.

You better check that Sister Meister.

Well, you are right, and I eat my words.

This will be interesting.
Here is something to chew on, Missy....

Although the Department is a relative newcomer among Cabinet-level agencies, its origins goes back to 1867, when President Andrew Johnson signed legislation creating the first Department of Education. Its main purpose was to collect information and statistics about the nation's schools. However, due to concern that the Department would exercise too much control over local schools, the new Department was demoted to an Office of Education in 1868.

Over the years, the office remained relatively small, operating under different titles and housed in various agencies, including the U.S. Department of the Interior and the former U.S. Department of Health Education and Welfare (now Health and Human Services).

Beginning in the 1950s, political and social changes resulted in expanded federal funding for education. The successful launch of the Soviet Union's Sputnik in 1957 spurred nationwide concern that led to increased aid for science education programs. The 1960s saw even more expansion of federal education funding: President Lyndon Johnson's "War on Poverty" called for the creation of many programs to improve education for poor students at all levels—early childhood through postsecondary. This expansion continued in the 1970s with national efforts to help racial minorities, women, people with disabilities and non-English speaking students gain equal access to education. In October 1979, Congress passed the Department of Education Organization Act (Public Law 96-88). Created by combining offices from several federal agencies, the Department began operations in May 1980.

In the 1860s, a budget of $15,000 and four employees handled education fact-finding. By 1965, the Office of Education had more than 2,100 employees and a budget of $1.5 billion. As of mid-2010, the Department has nearly 4,300 employees and a budget of about $60 billion.

I've known for a very long time. Like I said, I never thought I'd see this in my lifetime. It's amazing to watch the demofks literally losing their mind that their free money is under attack

Indeed, you know you're real close to the heart of the grift when all the cockroaches are running around like they have been
exposed to the light.

No truer words. Before the federal government got into higher education, pretty much any industrious motivated student could pay his/her way through a decent state college or university. Once the federal government got involved, the cost zoomed out of reach of most necessitating going into debt with student loans.

There is very very little the federal government does that is more economical than allowing the private sector and free market do it when that is feasible.

I also can't believe the number of idiots in here that have lost their minds along with those demopukers like they had some investment in it. I don't get that.
