27-Year-Old 'Asteroids' High Score Beaten in Three-Day Marathon...when 15-year-old Scott Safran racked up 41,336,440 points over the course of three days in 1982, it took 22 years for someone to mount a serious challenge to the record. But that 2004 attempt by Bill Carlton fell short when the cabinet he was playing crashed -- 27 hours into his session. It appears though, that 27 years later, Safran's record has finally fallen, to a man named John McAllister in Portland.
