26% of Americans think country is headed in right direction

How does Hillary win with numbers like this?

She runs against Trump
She runs against any Republican.

No, she can be beaten by Rubio, but Trump is a sure loser with Cruz a close second.
I love it! Have you seen my thread Hurry up and nominate Rubio already? Will you please tell these idiots to stop pushing Cruz, Trump, Carson & Carli? Aint gonna happen.

Rubio is your only chance. The fact that your right wing nuts say he isn't conservative enough tells me he has the best chance in a general election.

Agree

Rubio is the only one who can counter Hillary and actually win in swing states

Trump or Cruz will only increase your margin in Red States
Increase who's margin in Red States? Red states will love Cruz.

Rubio can win Colorado, Ohio, Florida, Michigan. Swing states. Even Trump will still win red states.

So, 26% of the country are complete imbeciles? Yeah, pretty much.

Naw, the 26% are the citizens that actually want the federal government to go bankrupt and the economy to collapse, so yeah as far as they're concerned everything is going according to plan. :)
You guys will bankrupt us with the war you start in Iran. Even if you don't start a war defense spending will go through the roof. Then when your economy goes to shit you'll send everyone $300 and toss that on the debt too.

Republicans only talk about debt and deficits when Democrats are in charge. Notice the teaparty will never tea bag a Republican president.

A drive to cut federal spending and reduce the national debt has for years topped the Republican Party’s national agenda. But this year on the campaign trail, curbing the nation’s spending and borrowing no longer appears to be the GOP’s top priority.

The leading GOP contenders for president have emphasized large tax cuts over deficit and debt reduction so far this campaign, a reversal from 2012. In several cases, the candidates’ tax plans are projected to add trillions of dollars to the debt, even using optimistic forecasts for how much economic growth those cuts would spark.

Few candidates in last week’s Republican debate even mentioned the debt. The only one to detail any proposed spending cuts was Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey. The word “deficit” was only uttered twice in the nearly three-hour proceedings. Both times, it was in reference to Wisconsin.

The shift may reflect the nation’s improving budget stance. Due to a growing economy and to several packages of spending cuts and tax increases that Congress and President Obama negotiated into law, the deficit declined this year to $426 billion, or 2.4 percent of the economy, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

That is a smaller deficit than the average of the past 50 years, and it is down from $1.4 trillion in 2009, in the depths of recession.

Polls also show voters have become less concerned with the deficit in that time. Pew Research surveys show both Republican voters and Americans in general see the issue as less pressing than they did in 2012. In a January Pew poll, five other issues scored higher than deficits in terms of voter concerns, including terrorism, the economy, jobs, education and Social Security.

Some economists contend that the economy is suffering because the deficit is too low, saying the government should take advantage of its low borrowing costs to rebuild infrastructure and boost growth. None of the leading Republican candidates endorse that view.

Instead, most notably on the presidential campaign trail, Republicans are returning to a favored argument of conservative economists: that cutting tax rates will aid the economy and reduce the debt over time, even if they add to the deficit in the short run.

One must wonder who these shit-for-brains are

Not surprising that many think we are going the wrong way, but that doesn't mean much without identifying which way we should be going and why we aren't doing that. With Congressional approval at 13% and the presidents approval at near 50%, it's not hard to figure out which way most think we should be going.

Congressional approval is always in the shitter no matter who the president is so that all that really shows is Americans are bipolar.

When former Florida governor Jeb Bush rolled out a tax plan earlier this month, his own advisers said it would add at least $1.2 trillion to the debt over the next decade, even if it spurs faster growth. (Many economists call those growth projections overly optimistic. Without any new growth, Bush’s team estimated the plan would grow the debt by $3.4 trillion.)

You could be right, but either way, the fact that most believe the country is headed in the wrong direction can't be blamed completely on the administration. Congress has as much or more effect on the country's direction as the president does.

You can see Congressional approval spike every time Congress changes hands, and then it steadily declines as the American people realize, "Say hello to the new boss, same as the old boss."

It barely rose after the Tea Party revolution, though, before continuing its plunge.

The 2009 spike is the passage of Obamacare.

How does Hillary win with numbers like this? She represents a continuation of Obama's policies. She represents the way things have been done for the last 8 years. People are clearly unhappy with that. They want a change. Hillary is not change.
How does the GOP keep control of the Senate with these numbers?

Hillary wins because we all remember back in 2007 the country was really headed in the wrong direction. We were losing jobs not adding jobs every month. About a million jobs a month difference. Under Bush, -700,000 jobs a month and under Obama +300,000. That's a million jobs a month difference.

We know how you keep control of the House. Gerrymandering.

Uhm, did you read the post.... only 26% think were headed in the right direction. Translated: 74% think we're headed im the wrong direction.
I think we are headed in the wrong direction too. So does Bernie Sanders. So you me and Bernie agree.
No you think we are headed in the right direction but havent gone far enough

Ha. Rubio has no one excited. Rubio hasnt built the organization that Cruz has. Rubio is a sure loser. And I would happily vote for him if he ended up being the nominee.

The Left has been increasing the centralization of government power, thus making it easier to capture by special interests. Then, when that centralized power is captured, the Left feels the reason that happened is because they didn't centralize power enough.

The Right has been increasing the crazy, sacrificing all connections to Republican principles along the way. Then, when they lose an election because of their insanity, the Right feels the reason that happened is because they weren't crazy enough.

Rubio is polling higher against Hillary than both Trump and Cruz.

No, we need to go back in the New Deal direction we were going in but the minute the New Deal was passed the GOP systematically spent the next 80 years destroying it. It was fun while it lasted.

Who knew the GOP would send that many jobs overseas.

A. That isnt true. B. Even if true it is irrelevant. Polls are notoriously wrong, esp this far out.

The New deal created the Great Depression. It hobbled growth for years after, which is why Kennedy cut tax rates.
