A realistic evaluation of the present situation would seem to indicate that, failing a huge, fatal gaffe on the part of Trump, he will win the next election. Thus, the candidate chosen to run against him could be a sentimental favorite as a sacrifice. The potential problem there is that, given how implicated he is in so many things in so many ways, Trump may indeed become unacceptable to people at virtually the last moment. Thus, we risk having an undesirable President be succeeded by another incompetent one.
If there were really no alternative, wouldn't Bloomberg be a 'safer' bet than the others on stage last night? This is certainly not an endorsement for the ex-mayor, and he is not the candidate I would choose in a better range of choice. This is merely speaking logically and compassionately.
