2017 Summary of the ISIS-Coalition not fighting ISIS
ISIS controls large parts of Syria and Trump attacks the Syrian military. ISISDF is sleeping and lets the Syrian army protect them from Erdogan´s Euphrates Shield forces. The Syrian army kicks off the Raqqa offensive with Russian support: ISISDF crosses the Assad Lake and tries to cut off the Syrian army from the Raqqa Governorate, takes the Tabqa airbase. The ISIS-Coalition bombs the Tabqa dam, ISIS begins evacuation of Raqqa City. The dam sustained the bombing and the evacuation was stopped.
The Syrian army closes in on Raqqa City and ISISDF begins to surround the city. ISIS withdrew all heavy weapons from the city and deployed it against the Syrian army in an agreement with the ISIS-Coalition. The ISIS-Coalition then bombed and carpet-bombed Raqqa City, that has seen only one short battle in 2013. The city was completely destroyed within some weeks and the ISIS-Coalition buried tens of thousands of civilians under the rubble.
The Syrian army continues to advance south of Raqqa City along the Euphrates, facing fierce resistance and counter attacks by ISIS. The ISIS-Coalition attacks a Syrian aircraft that was on an anti-ISIS mission, prompting Russia to impose a no fly zone on the ISIS-Coaltion west of the Euphrates.
When the Syrian army crossed the Euphrates, ISISDF opened the Tabqa dam to hinder the army. When the army headed to Deir Ezzor City, ISISDF launched an offensive to capture the city first. The ISIS-Coalition created a coalition with ISIS, ISIS attacks the Syrian army from ISISDF positions. ISIS turns over oil fields to ISISDF and signs a truce with them while fielding everything against the Syrian army. The army liberates Deir Ezzor City and is unstoppable and ISISDF advances east of the Euphrates to cut off the Syrian army from the Iraqi border. When ISIS was finally defeated, the ISIS-Coalition claimed credit for the victory.
