2000-2010 Texas creates 1 million jobs, California losses 100,000, blame Bush?

Texas created 1.16 million jobs from 200-2010, while the USA as a whole lost 272,000 over the same period. You can shake and bake that all you want, but those results speak for themselves. There's a reason people and businesses are comng to Texas, while people and businesses are leaving NY, ILL, and CA. Businesses go there to make money, people go there to find a job, although it's also a good retirement state. That's called doing something right politically and economically, it's hard to argue with success.

Are the lions coming together?

Absolutely. I'm seeing a 10 win season and a playoff spot. Assuming they even play a season this year.

I think your right
they really have a chance to to go along way for a long time
any way good luck
I like the Stafford kid

an 8%+ unemployment rate.
household incomes well below the average.
bottom quintile in education.

What were we comparing again?

California with 12% unemployment.

California's debt is seen by investors as riskier than Kazakhstan's, according to Bloomberg News. Five-year credit default swaps tied to California's debt, which are a key measure of the market's belief in the likelihood of default, are actually trading at 100 basis points above those of Kazakhstan. In other words, the market believes a developing country of just 15.7 million people is actually less likely to default on its debt than California, which makes up the eighth-largest economy in the world.

California's Debt: Now Riskier Than Kazakhstan's - And A Bigger Worry Than Greece?

The difference between California and Texas is the political parties that control their legislatures. Texas will bite the bullet and cut spending by 10% and solve their debt problem, especially with the influx of Californians moving there, getting jobs and growing the Texas economy.

California is a basket case, and has been controlled by Democrats since Christ was a corporal. With hundreds, maybe thousands of state employees drawing $100,000 a year pensions, they are done for.

this shit was happening before Arnold.....regulations,high taxes and an unfriendly business climate did not start with Arnie.....

Truth is... after a little more research, California is not in that bad of shape. They are still in the top 10 as far as budget shortfalls, but that $21B shortfall is only 25% of the fiscal budget. Illinois' budget shortfall of $17B, is 52%, and Texas, with their $10B is 22%.

So apparently California brings in enough revenue to clean it up over a relatively short period of time with some good management.

Arnie.....had said a few times that California does not have a revenue problem....it has a spending problem....hopefully Jerry will tell the Legislature that your reckless spending ends now....we will see....

I agree and I just saw 6 pigs in formation flying west.

The GOP should consider Rick Perry as their nominee for President. He's been creating Jobs while all other States have been losing Millions of Jobs. I guess he's doing something right.

my state has a sales tax and an income tax. Our unemployment rate is about the lowest in the nation.

Therefore, the key to prosperity is having both taxes.

Maryland, NJ and Connecticut also have both taxes - and the highest incomes in the nation.

Truly, the evidence is overwhelming!

Yay, correlation!

California legislators took a junket to Texas to find out why Texas was creating jobs while the Golden State lost jobs. The answer is really simple and many have been shouting it for some time: high taxes and burdensome regulations.
Texas shows it is job friendly through state policies whereas California does quite the opposite. Just look at the numbers. According to an analysis by noted Chapman University economist Essie Adibi, over the last 10 years California has experienced a net loss of over 100,000 jobs whereas Texas has had a net job gain over well over 1 million.

How about New Jersey?
New York?

Texas has a sales tax where as California has a income tax
Job creation is not Rocket Science and blaming GWB on everything is not going to fix anything

So between those 2 states bush created 900,000 jobs according to those in cali who say the jobs are bush's fault in 2011

Why not Rick Perry? He can't be any worse than the wingers currently running or country. He creates Jobs. Even the Socialist/Progressive Wingnuts out in California admit that. The GOP should seriously consider Perry.

In texas it has gotten out of the way
In california it has stayed involved.

Real world proof that one method works better than the other but those who want the government involved will ignore all historical and present day facts about this stuff.

What we need in this country really bad is that kind of mentality
On public land, with private companies investing
select cut the good timber
farm it to include corn for ethanol
refine it
distribute it
create jobs

Yea i would like to see Perry jump into the Presidential Race. He does have the Debt thing but he has a great record on creating Jobs. I say...Why not Perry??

Only problem with all those Californians coming to Texas is that most of 'em are democrats. There goes the neighborhood.

One need only look at real estate valuations to see where people want to live and where they don't.

I've lived in TX and I've lived in CA...my mom is from TX, I have living relatives there and ancestors that helped settle several railroad towns in TX.

You could not pay me enough to move back there. Sorry.

I'm sure the Gulf coast is nice but from what I've seen of the rest of the state, it's too dry, flat, and barren and completely devoid of any character.

It, as well as the rest of the southwest are not even on my long list of places to retire no matter how cheap the living might be.

Instead of starting a thread with a nonsensical premise, why don't we try some facts?

The job losses in 2008 (the last year of Bush's presidency) totalled 2.6 MILLION.

U.S. job losses in 2008 the sharpest since 1945 - PBN.com - Providence Business News

Now, under President Obama there has been a year's worth of private sector job growth.

The Gulf Coast is humid, buggy, and prone to hurricanes. The water is silty and like bath water....tar gets on your clothes and never comes out.

Texas is the only place I've ever been where the tap water KILLS house plants.

I love living in Phoenix. One day last month it was 100 degrees with 2% humidity. It will be over 100 and sunny form now until thanksgiving, except for the 2 days of monsoons. I saw a photo of a blue sky with light clouds and became nostalgic, but it passed.
