Which is worse:
1. A fan in the stand hurling the N word...or
2. A player accusing a fan using the N when in fact they didn't?

if 2 is the answer, dk got off extremely lightly

I do get tired of idiot fans trying to create a payday?

I might say the guy was fair game hanging over the field of play and call it a non-ussue. No harm no foul.

But. Metcalf had no reason to be over there that close.

“Obviously, I am not condoning putting your hands on a fan or punching the fan but he did call him a racial slur, called him the N-word and he did call his mom a c—t,” Johnson explained to Sharpe.

“I think with those words being exchanged and the fan saying that, I think that’s where the action occurred that he, I think he threw a punch I am not sure if he connected or whatever,” the ex-Bengals wideout continued. “But he did call him the N-word and he did call his mom a c—t… That’s a bad combination and it caused DK to react.”

Meh, the fan needed to be held responsible for the words that came out of his mouth.

Metcalf was not ejected and IMHO the NFL overreacted after the fact.

Metcalf tried to do the right thing before. He reported the "fan" last year but the team did nothing.

I would have forced Metcalf to sit out one set of downs and banned the "fan" from the stadium.

Here's another angle of it:

I don't see any indication that the fan said the N-word. The recording from a different fan nearby has a caption that says that DK doesn't like being called his real name.

Regardless of what was said, they're just words. DK is a hot-head and he needs to figure out how to act like a professional.

He also just happens to be the most penalized wide receiver in the league because teams (and fans) know that he's going to lose it if they get under his skin, and he will do something stupid that will cost his team.

More importantly, the poor are boxed out of NFL games on Christmas? But for CBS in local markets?

Netflix is streaming two NFL Christmas Day games on Wednesday, December 25, 2025, marking the second consecutive year it has hosted the league's holiday doubleheader. The games are the Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders at 1 p.m. ET from Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, followed by the Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings at 4:30 p.m. ET from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

While the games are exclusive to Netflix, they will also air locally on CBS affiliates in the home and away team markets and be available on NFL+ for U.S. mobile devices.
International viewers can watch on DAZN.

I think Metcalf made a few mistakes besides even going over and letting this jerk know that he was getting under his skin:
  1. This whole episode smacks of HISTORY between these two. Why has the NFL never intervened? The fan should be banned from games for life.
  2. After the incident, Metcalf did not report the incident to security or police and no one even questioned the fan much less ejected him.
  3. After the game, apparently, Metcalf only spoke to a few former players he knew.

Regardless of Metcalf, yes, this fan needs ejected from the games.

The good news (for the Steelers) is that Saturday night, the Ravens (beat to hell and back) play the Packers. If the Packers win as they surely should, this makes the Steelers last two games moot, they own the division, so very likely, the next day, this Sunday, the Steelers will probably rest their star players and not need Metcalf these last two games anyway.

I bet in hindsight now that Metcalf regrets not having grabbed the guy's hair as he surely could have, and just yanked the guy over the railing onto the field.

I mean, if he is going to be fined millions of dollars over the affair, he might as well get some pleasure out of it.

Hair? Looked like a Blue clowns joke wig? Does he wear green in SEA? How can MetLife even hear him from the sidelines?

I'm assuming the charge against Metcalf will be assault. I think he stands a 50% chance of beating the rap or at least settling out of court.

But then, just poking someone with a finger can be deemed assault.

This is how it rolls.
