better understanding of what harms you,, as well as technology...like...being able to freeze food, keep it cool, as well vaccines...but one of the major things why it's continued to go up yearly for 100 plus years is industrialization...people don't have to physically work as hard as they did 100 years ago, 50 years ago etc.
