Aides To GOP Governor Indicted For Trying To Suppress Black Voter Turnout In 2010 Campaign

By Marie Diamond on Jun 20, 2011 at 2:15 pm

Two top aides to former Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich (R) were indicted Friday for trying to suppress Democratic voter turnout by ordering misleading phone calls that discouraged voters from going to the polls. The Baltimore Sun reports that Paul Schurick, Ehrlich’s communications director, and Julius Henson, a longtime GOP operative, directed this deceptive robocall campaign targeting the state’s black voters during last year’s gubernatorial campaign:

Julius Henson and Paul Schurick each face three counts of conspiracy to violate Maryland election laws, one count of attempting to influence a voter’s decision and one count of failing to provide an authority line (on campaign material). Schurick also is charged with one count of obstruction of justice. [...]

David Lucas defends the Quitman 10

By Jason

State Rep. David Lucas is defending the “Quitman 10,” who according to the local Fox affiliate are “ten African Americans arrested in Brooks County after being accused of illegally helping people vote by absentee ballot in the Democratic Primary for Labor Commissioner in late July”:

There is little information available on this story, at least from sources that weren’t obviously skewed in their opinion. This is still an open investigation, so the the Secretary of State’s office will not comment on it. But it could be a case with racial implications since the story seems to be that local races were affected in Brooks County where two black office-seekers defeated white incumbents. The results of the races, in which absentee voting by mail was high, would have apparently altered the racial makeup of the Brooks County School Board.

12 officials indicted for voter fraud or Let's guess which party they belong

No wonder the Left doesn't like voter ID laws
:eusa_whistle:
QUITMAN, GA (WALB) - 12 former Brooks County officials were indicted for voter fraud. The suspects are accused of illegally helping people vote by absentee ballot.

State officials launched an investigation after an unusually high number of absentee ballots were cast in the July 2010 primary election. "As a result of their grand jury findings 12 individuals were indicted in that particular matter and we will be trying that case in a court of judicial law instead of a court of public opinion so that will be pending this next year," said District Attorney Joe Mulholland.

The defendants include some workers in the voter registrar's office and some school board members. They are Angela Bryant, April Proctor, Brenda Monds, Debra Denard, Lula Smart, Kechia Harrison, Robert Denard, Sandra Cody, Elizabeth Thomas, Linda Troutman, Latashia Head, and Nancy Denard.

you don't get it, do you? you even posted the part that is important....

the voter fraud took place via ABSENTEE BALLOT, and voter id laws for the polling booth wouldn't stop the voter fraud that is happening....you only seem to care about trying to pin this on dems for not liking voter id laws at the polls.....and the slight of hand is happening right before your eyes....via absentee ballot....

has your party tried to FIX THAT? FIX where voter fraud ACTUALLY OCCURS? Of course NOT.....

you and your party doesn't seem to give a flying hoot about voter fraud, they seem to only want to disenfranchise millions of LEGAL CITIZENS of their right to vote, because they believe they are dems, while having a blind eye to where the voter fraud is taking place as we speak....

sad really, that you all can't see it....i'm sure you mean well, but you are being fooled in to believing voter id's would have stopped that fraud in your thread....but it wouldn't have....nor would it stop any of the acorn registration fraud....

but go ahead, keep your heads in the sand, screaming and hollering about the registration fraud, while you've given the A-OK for absentee voter fraud to continue, by both sides of the aisle....:eusa_eh:

you, me, we all are being had....imo.

Jack Abramoff: Newt Gingrich ‘Cashing in on Public Service’; ‘Lobbying’ by Another Name

Disgraced Republican super-lobbyist Jack Abramoff is out of prison and now talking up a book he’s written about the kind of Washington corruption that landed him there.

As he looks at the GOP field for 2012, there’s one storyline that’s drawn his notice – if only because it seems familiar.

Abramoff told us on ABC’s “Top Line” today that Newt Gingrich’s lucrative career as a consultant and adviser to private-sector clients is an example of a former member of Congress taking advantage of the “revolving door.”

No. According to Republicans, it only matters if it's some schmucks in some tiny county down in Georgia. Not if it's the most powerful figures within the Republican party.

According to the DA, illegal activities are an indictable offense....

Whatever. Your desperate attempt to smear all Democrats with a story about some people in Georgia who may or may not be guilty of anything - and may turn out to be victims of retaliation by vindictive Republican officials - is still pathetic.
