The media, especially the business media, have been detailing carefully the huge upsurge in inflation, the slowness of the Fed to respond initially, and predicting an all but certain recession once the Fed’s dramatic raising of interest rates went into effect. The recent resilience and strength of the U.S. economy has come as a surprise to virtually all the experts in the media and only recently have they started to say a U.S. recession may be avoided entirely.
The OP writer, Lastamender , obviously knows nothing, and never even watches “Bloomberg News.”
There are definitely some good longer-term signs as well, like factory investment skyrocketing and the fact that despite the rapidly changing interest rate environment there have been no big systemic banking failures. Employment remains remarkably robust. Even the stock market is flying again as investor confidence has returned.
But … we are not out of the woods yet, “service inflation” remains too high, and there are many reasons to fear “black swan” events related to the Ukraine War or a conflict with China.
These and other troubling economic matters are widely discussed in mainstream television business media … which our OP writer obviously never bothers to watch.
