  • Probably not because sons don't react to that. Perhaps compile a list of accidents in the last 10 years and show him the statistics. There may be nothing you can do about it except let him go and figure it out for himself. Most climbers try ice climbing and don't like it.
I hadn't heard about Ralph. Ice climbing, in same aspects, can be safer done solo, but the risk is still extreme. I personally hate water ice climbing- the protection is shit, the ice is unpredictable, its cold, wet, dangerous, and A LOT of work. A month ago I was ice climbing near Copper Mountain ski resort in a place called Officer's Gulch where slide danger is extreme and I was hit by an avalanche. I was lucky to survive, especially since I didn't even have a bruise or scratch. On the other hand, alpine ice climbing is fantastic. I'm going to Canada this July to climb some of the classic north faces. The ice has been there since the last ice age, it doesn't change, its solid, and it isn't steep (50 degrees). Objective hazard can be extreme, but I'm not doing any "dangerous" routes. And you're right, it costs $1,000's.
Had to shoot the cat, bones. It was a wild-assed ferral cat that I've been trying to live trap for two weeks now. It had the habit of jumping up on the bench on the porch and shitting all over it nearly every day. Wife had it up to the ears and said, "Cat's gotta go". Now that you've slapped me around a bit with the neg rep, you know the rest of the story.
Did you see Dante's behavior in the "ilk" thread.

Thats the type of stuff I dont tolerate. He now has a special place as 1 of 2 people on my perma-ignore list.

Did you see the thread a few weeks back where EZ was wondering why I was giving RAVI crap? She wanted to know why and I told her it was because ravi was giving you a hard time and I consider you one of my favorite forum members.
