Once again we see foreign car companies besting the US

Toyota is planning the production of internal combustion engines that run on liquid ammonia. Ammonia consists of 1 nitrogen atom and 3 hydrogen atoms and are two of the most abundant elements on the planet.

Now ammonia contains no carbon atoms but has a high energy density so there is zero CO2 created in combustion

The Democrat party, which has made climate alarmism its #1 fantasy, will bury this technology if it turns out to be viable. MAGA
Likely . It may be apochryphal but this has happened a few times before .
Understandably , because if you were any sort of player in the oil or gas markets you would resort to any measures to ensure that some genius with genius new ideas was buried . Literally if necessary .

Ammonia is known for its carbon-free emissions, yet nitrogen oxides are an issue besides nitric oxides (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), cumulatively known as NOx, nitrous oxide N2O is of particular concern as it can be emitted from ammonia-diesel combustion and has nearly 300 times larger greenhouse effects than CO2 on ...

well at least we'll all have a grand apocalyptic chuckle ......

Which can be addressed
We have catalytic converters on gasoline cars to address that very issue

We really have no idea what the pertinent facts are here, but boy howdy, we can sure talk up a storm.. saying the same nothingness over and over again for hours on end with a little help from our new pal, AI!

Yes nothing is true and it's all a conspiracy

Except that it is being done.

There are a few things that need to be addressed but it is certainly a viable path.
Nope....
Not really.
A poorly maintained gasoline or diesel engine will put out smoke or unburned fuel into the air....which has an odor but won't kill immediately.

Ammonia will burn and kill immediately.

Ever work near a plant using ammonia as a refrigerant? Tons of safety protocols involved due to the toxicity and danger associated with ammonia or an ammonia spill.

You want stupid?
330 million people using ammonia as a fuel. One look at ticTok will tell you that.

Yeah and you would have been one of the people who was afraid gasoline powered cars would blow up on a regular basis

/----/ True for the small guy, byt Toyota is big enough and backed by their government, they can't be touched.

Seems brilliant....but ammonia is not naturally occuring in large amounts. Still.....I like it.

Gasoline is no where near as caustic as ammonia.
Many industrial sites and buildings are painted with ammonia as one of the vehicles in the paint.(to help it dry quickly) There's a reason why painters are usually drunks.
But the amount of ammonia is low in this application. The amount needed for vehicles is insane concentrations. Extremely dangerous stuff. Full hazmat suits are needed.

That CO[sub]2[/sub] is very beneficial to our environment.
