A guy gets in a drunken driving accident and kills another person. He flees and probably would have gotten away with murder. 99% of the people would have left it at that. The guy in this case was overly remorseful and wanted to pay for his crime. He goes onto Youtube and confesses, knowing he will go to jail. It is heartbreaking.
Yet a heartless prosecutor wants to toss the book at him and get the max sentence! Yes he should prosecutored and punished, but the max sentence? A heartless call. The man showed remorse, not because he was caught like so many other criminals, but because he did the act that caused the crime. He confessed before he was a suspect. He confessed before the cops showedup at his door. He confessed and that should be taken into consideration.
Imagine the next person that is going to hestitate on confessing, because they will not get less sentence.
