A guy gets in a drunken driving accident and kills another person. He flees and probably would have gotten away with murder. 99% of the people would have left it at that. The guy in this case was overly remorseful and wanted to pay for his crime. He goes onto Youtube and confesses, knowing he will go to jail. It is heartbreaking.

Yet a heartless prosecutor wants to toss the book at him and get the max sentence! Yes he should prosecutored and punished, but the max sentence? A heartless call. The man showed remorse, not because he was caught like so many other criminals, but because he did the act that caused the crime. He confessed before he was a suspect. He confessed before the cops showedup at his door. He confessed and that should be taken into consideration.

Imagine the next person that is going to hestitate on confessing, because they will not get less sentence.

When this guy got in front of the Judge, he plead not guilty. It's his right. Now they must have a trial and he, like anyone else, will be facing the maximum sentence.

IF he had really confessed, and plead guilty, he could have asked for leniency. There wouldn't be a trial. There would be a sentencing hearing. He chose not to do that. He chose to have the prosecution put on a dog and pony show, for that he will be face the maximum.

It is a warning to the next person that imagines they can make an attention getting You Tube, and change their story in front of the judge.

i feel in this case a suspended sentence might be warranted if this is his first drunk driving indiscretion.

Had he turned himself in before releasing his Utube video it probably would have gone easier on him.
