Equality Wisconsin Funds Voices of Faith Project today released a letter signed by 33 pastors and rabbis from across WI calling on Gov. Scott Walker to maintain Wisconsins domestic partner protections.
As leaders in the faith community, we are committed to seeing that all families are given the opportunity to thrive and contribute to the welfare of Wisconsins children, the letter states, calling Wisconsins domestic partner registry and state employee domestic partner health benefits measures that not only protect the rights of LGBT families, but also strengthen our states economy, making it an open and welcoming community in which to further ones education, to work, and to raise children.
Pastors and rabbis from congregations hailing from Racine to Superior signed the letter. They were contacted by Voices of Faith, a project of Equality Wisconsin Fund that helps congregations speak up for lesbian, gay, and transgender equality from a faith perspective. Wisconsin became one of 15 states that provide some or all of the legal protections of marriage to same-sex couples in 2009.
