I have no problem with Jesus but the assholes he left to run his lousy fan club can go to hell.

Human beings are all sinful. Isn't that the whole story of the Bible, is that we all need a savior?
The core message I got from the bible is that when we act as each other's saviors we are practicing true religion. I don't let all the supernatural stuff about what happens when we die obscure the commandment that we not be assholes to each other.

Well.... no.... We are absolutely not to be each other's saviors. In fact, trying to be someone else's savior, is the worst thing you can do, because you simply can't. There is only one true Jesus. No one else can be Jesus, but Jesus.

So I don't know where you got that idea, that we are to try and put ourselves as G-d, but that is not how it works.

However, that is true that we are not to be intentionally jerks to people.

I think where the rub comes, is that Christians are in fact, supposed to stand up against the darkness. We are supposed to call evil, what is evil.

Now that doesn't mean I go around town trying to hunt down people that are doing wrong, and scream in their face. Which I think that is what you are referring to.

But if I'm asked if doing X is wrong, I'm going to say, yeah that's wrong. Yeah, Divorcing your wife without cause is wrong. "You are being a jerk!" No, I'm just saying the truth, because you asked. I didn't hunt you down, you asked me, and I answered a question.
Jesus specifically told us to give of our time and money in service to our brothers and sisters, especially the downtrodden. I look at evangelicals and I see an entire faith passing by on the other side. I fail to understand why this central ideal is missing from American right-wing politicized Christianity. I mean it's right there in red and white.

What? Stop... what?

Home | Cypress Church

My home church. Right now in the middle of a Coat4Kids program. We had four of the stores around the church, all run out of stock on children's coats, because of this drive.

Missions | Northwest Bible Church

My sister's church, has a orphanage in Malawi that they fund almost exclusively.

Outreach - Berean Bible Church - Dublin, OH

My parents church sends people to the Ronald McDonald House, which if you don't know what they do, they help children at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

So, you'll forgive me if I'm a bit blown away by your statement that evangelicals are passing by on the other side.........

Based on what?? How can you possibly say such a thing? And by the way, what I just posted was a few highlights, from thousands of examples. It would be impossible for me to list all the evangelical service ministries operating just in Ohio... just one state.

So not to be too repetitious.... but what.... in the world.... are you.... talking about??
I am talking about the American right and their terribly un-Christian way of dealing with the world. Nothing of Christ exists in their politics, nothing. They are passing by on the other side. Remember the parable of the Samaritan? I do not think you do.

If jesus comes back will the republicans jail him if he doesn't have a passport, or only if he has dark skin?
Jesus would not try and enter a country illegally to begin with. Jesus was very careful to follow the law, even when he disagreed with the law.

Matthew 17:25
"What do you think, Simon?" he asked. "From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes--from their own children or from others?"

"From others," Peter answered. "Then the children are exempt," Jesus said to him.

"But so that we may not cause offense, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours."
The point being made was that Jesus was not required to pay the tax, because he was the Son of G-d. But even so, he still paid the tax, to follow the law. Although he got the money to pay it from a fish, which has always confused me as to why he did that.

Anyway, the point is, Jesus would not be here violating our laws to begin with, so the question is pointless. Jesus is not a criminal. He would follow the law.

Exactly brother, people's talking point was jesus was a criminal and he would violate US borders..

No jesus would of stayed in south America and let USA come to him.

One thing is certain...

3geooa.jpg
But he wasn't a capitalist either. He didn't ask payment for feeding the hungry or healing the sick.

Sure he was. Being a capitalist, and being charitable, are not mutually exclusive.

Jesus never said to go take from other people. That's socialism. In fact, Jesus spoke against being like the gentile rulers who ran around telling everyone that they were their benefactors. The rules would go around taking the wealth of others, give it out to people, and say "look! I'm your benefactor". Jesus specifically told people to not be like them.

Instead YOU are to help the poor. You work, and have a job, and make a profit... that's capitalism. You also give to charity, and help the poor. That's just being a capitalist that is charitable.

By the way, government is the exact opposite.

You are not being charitable, when government steals your money. Nor are people getting charity, when government gives them stuff without you, or them, agreeing to it.

It's just legalized theft.

That's why you never see people who get welfare, going around thanking the people who earned the tax money they are getting. There is no gratitude from those getting stolen money.

By the way, we have every reason to believe Jesus worked as a carpenter, and likely was paid well for it. Capitalism baby.

Although he got the money to pay it from a fish, which has always confused me as to why he did that.

It's no wonder why his disciples went out and preached his teachings. They saw what he did. They knew he was truly the son of God. And that's why they never recanted their faith even as they were being stoned to death, crucified, etc. After all, why would one willingly DIE if they knew Jesus was a fraud?

Human beings are all sinful. Isn't that the whole story of the Bible, is that we all need a savior?

And I just listed hundreds of examples of people following that teaching.

So again.... what in the world are you talking about? Their terribly un-christian way of dealing with world? Did you miss Samaritan's Purse sending entire plane loads of supplies to Syrian and South Sudan?

What are you talking about? Be specific. You keep making vague ambiguous claims, with nothing supporting it.

I had to click on "view ignored content" to see to whom you were responding. There are some good posters on this forum, but he's not one of them. He is deceived by Satan and, although he doesn't believe that Satan exists, he does Satan's bidding. He belongs to Satan. Remember, don't cast your pearls to swine.

Here's a question never to ask online, or you will get a 20 page answer from me, explaining how Jesus represents the Authority of EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW and would unite the best of all parties while correcting the problems with all of us. (see my original answer I will post as a separate post on this thread, it's way too long and annoying, and needs tons of editing)

To make this simple, I'll just post a POLL of which party you think Jesus would use to lead the Second Coming or REFORMATION. We already saw the first Reformation where Luther liberated people from depending on Church authority in order to follow the laws of Christianity by building their own churches.

Today we face the challenging stage of liberating people from depending on Govt authority, by following the laws of Constitutional process and ethics to build our own community, city and state programs as sustainable developments without relying on federal govt or taxation forced on others. We are supposed to be building and governing ourselves, locally and democratically, while using the state and federal levels for national security and defense, and checking and balance powers that are only granted to government by consent of the governed.

How can we establish Equal Justice Under Law when people are organized into diverse tribes, parties and nations each with their own beliefs?

That is the challenge that Jesus fulfills as the spirit of RESTORATIVE JUSTICE that makes us all EQUAL UNDER LAW. What party would Jesus use to lead this movement?

Or would he call for a mix of the top 4 parties and unite teams of leaders from all the branches and denominations to lead their tribes in a collaborative, unified plan for the nation and the world?

What PARTY do you think Jesus would claim or affiliate with to fulfill EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW for all people of America and to lead the rest of the world by example? Would he even manifest in America as the leader of this movement toward perfect democratic government by empowering or educating the masses?
Might he come through China or Russia or Africa to lead whole continents to unite on plans to rebuild and reform society to serve all people through charitable free will and no longer rely on force of government?

How do you envision the Second coming of Jesus as EQUAL JUSTICE and PEACE for all people?

"My kingdom is not of this earth". Not only would He not be a member of any political party, I believe He would throw the politicians out of the pulpits in the same way that he threw the money changers out of the Temple.

Jesus was not a political leader at all. His failure to use his power to help the Jews defeat and expel the Romans is the reason why Judas betrayed him.

Might want to talk to an actual Bible scholar about that. Jesus and Judas (Jesus' most trusted, as he was the treasurer) made it happen like that. Jesus wanted to see the High Priest to talk to him about how he was messing up the message, and Judas arranged to have Him turned over. But, when the Jewish priests got Him in custody, they decided to turn Him over to the Romans, because they knew if Jesus confronted the High Priests, the people would revolt against them, which is why they gave Him to the Romans.

Judas was so upset about Jesus being turned over to the Romans that he decided to defile the family crypt of the High Priest by hanging himself in front of it.

Huh?

Revisionist bible story telling here..

As far as which political party would Jesus belong to? None of them, but He would be able to talk to all of them and understand them.

Kinda the same way I tell people I believe when asked what religion do I think that God is? I tell them that God is too big to be contained in any single dogma, belief system, or religion.

However..........................................

Since all religions believe basically the same thing (do good, don't do evil, there is something better if you live right, something worse if you don't, there is a Supreme Creator, etc.), I think that God is kinda like a diamond, and each religion is just one facet of who God is.

If you really want to understand God, you need to understand at least 3 different religions.

The core message I got from the bible is that when we act as each other's saviors we are practicing true religion. I don't let all the supernatural stuff about what happens when we die obscure the commandment that we not be assholes to each other.

The shameful sadistic way that we treated the refugees coming to the Southern border marks you for a hypocrite. Did you have a single charitable impulse?

From Puerto Rico to California to Florida we have seen a string of natural disasters. Trump and the republicans played politics with every bit of it while Americans suffered. Did you even care?

Our president lies constantly. Do you value honesty at all?

Our Earth is in a climate crisis. Why do you not care that we treat God's creation like a garbage dump in the name of capitalism.

Speaking of capitalism. The want of money is the root of all evil yet the right sees the amoral nature of business as somehow blameless.

It's getting late so I will cut off there for now.

The right married politics and religion and corrupted both. The simple faith of my childhood is unrecognizable. Those moral majority jerks that hijacked the mainly Southern Baptist churches deserve the lowest pits of hell for what they have done.

Human beings are all sinful. Isn't that the whole story of the Bible, is that we all need a savior?

I was just thinking about this a little bit more..

So is arguments based on love or hate?

If I hated you I would either:

A) ignore you and walk away

B) kill you and eat you

So arguments are based on love, the theme of the bible is not needing a savior , but love.

.

Then why did Jesus die on a cross?

So we could talk about it 2,000 plus years later.

Really? Tell me, would you get crucified, just so people 2000 years later would talk about it? Really?

Would it be any better to die alone in a nursing home from rectal cancer and no one talks about you five minutes after your gone?

At least he got to come back from the dead.

You seem to be now bouncing around all over the place.

What does Trump have to do with anything? We're talking about Christian Evangelicals, right? We're talking about charity, and helping the poor, right? Trump is not "christianity". Trump is not the leader of "evangelicals" or something. Trump is not the defining factor in anything related to this topic.

From Puerto Rico to California to Florida we have seen a string of natural disasters. Trump and the republicans played politics with every bit of it while Americans suffered. Did you even care?

Yes, we sent a group to Puerto Rico to help with the damage. Samaritans Purse was there for both California and Florida.

Our president lies constantly. Do you value honesty at all?

Yes, and what does this have to do with evangelicals and charity?

Our Earth is in a climate crisis. Why do you not care that we treat God's creation like a garbage dump in the name of capitalism.

I have yet to see anyone anywhere, dumping garbage all over the place, with a banner saying "in the name of capitalism".

Closed Door for Ministries That Want to Help Children on the Border

Albert Reyes leads Buckner International, a Texas-based Christian non-profit that spends $39 million a year helping children mainly in Texas and six other countries.

For the last week, he has struggled to find out what's happening with the more than 2,300 children that the US government has taken from their parents at the US-Mexico border.

"It's really been hard to figure out," Reyes told CBN News.

Yes, and evangelicals have been pushing to help along the border for years now.

Again, I don't know what you are talking about. Many evangelical programs have been operating alone the border for as long as this problem has existed.

The want of money is the root of all evil yet the right sees the amoral nature of business as somehow blameless.

1 Timothy 6:10 " For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

The love of money. Not want. People in Venezuela, that are starving, want money. They want money so their kids don't die of starvation.

Love of money, is a different thing. If you are just greedy for money, and you stand around going "it's not fair that so and so has more money"... that's you being consumed by your love of money.

And the 'love of money' has nothing to do with business, or producing things of value for compensation. You can be the son of a VP, and get paid $50 Million a month, and produce nothing..... and still be consumed with a love of money.

The right married politics and religion and corrupted both. The simple faith of my childhood is unrecognizable. Those moral majority jerks that hijacked the mainly Southern Baptist churches deserve the lowest pits of hell for what they have done.

I can't speak to your specific experience, and perhaps there are some churches like the Rev. Jeremiah Wright church, which preaches hate and evil.

But when you expand that limited experience into all of evangelicals, and Christianity.... you are just wrong sir. You just are.

Evangelicals are not passing on the other side. We were in Puerto Rico. We were in California. We were in Florida. We were, and are at the Mexico border. Everything you said.... we're doing.

So you need to rethink a little bit. Maybe you were at a bad church, I don't know. But all the churches that I am at, are all doing these things.

I applaud your creative imagination. Cool story bro.

Jesus is separate from our politics he is not part of it at all and won't be ever. When he returns he will be leading an army to destroy the last of man's government to replace it with God's law and Government.

Democrats will oppose Jesus as they oppose him now.

Well....

What? Stop... what?

1.6 Million meals given out this year. 124,000 people sheltered for the night (not all at one time obviously, but over the course of a year). 80K uses of the free health clinic. All paid for by church support, and charitable donations.

Do you need me to go on?

Of course I do. I've read through the Bible every single year, for the past 6 years.

And I just listed hundreds of examples of people following that teaching.

So again.... what in the world are you talking about? Their terribly un-christian way of dealing with world? Did you miss Samaritan's Purse sending entire plane loads of supplies to Syrian and South Sudan?
