World Starves as Americans burn food to drive cars

Taxes do not create revenue? When did that miracle of modern math happen? ...Would you care to bet on that?

:eusa_liar: The tariff did not create revenue. The only reason it exists is because Brazil had a tariff that expired 10 months ago. :clap2: Our Brazil ethanol tariff wil expire soon also.

The fact that we export subsidized ethanol does not prove that it can be made without subsidies.

Our corn ethanol production is not subsidized & is exported to Brazil, Canada, the Netherlands, Nigeria, India, Holland & the United Arab Emirates which proves that it can be made & compete without subsidies.

If it needs no subsidy, why do we continue to subsidize it? So much for no subsidies going to production. If you read the article you will see that all ethanol subsidies go to producers of ethanol. ... You are the only person I have ever seen that has even attempted to twist the facts around and deny ethanol subsidies, the reason they exist, and the fact that the ethanol industry actual needs them to survive.

:cuckoo: Wow a few get a 10 cent credit for some small producers of ethanol. Big harry deal!!! Most producers don't get it, So let it expire. The ethanol industry does not need it to survive.

Big Oil Gets $0.45 per gallon credit to sell ethanol.

Never once do they say anything about them not really being needed. I also notice that you never did answer my question. Why do we subsidize corn ethanol? I will give you a hint. Think Iowa, farmers, and politics.

So people want to keep Big Oil tax credits to keep Big Oil happy so they will sell their ethanol. Nothing about wanting farmers or plants subsidized. :eusa_whistle: See below from your article:

Jeff Broin, chief executive of POET, the No. 1 producer, said an extension of the excise tax credit would allow time to put the long-term plan in place. POET supports a proposal to convert the credit into a fund to install so-called blender pumps that deliver fuel that is up to 85 percent ethanol and loan guarantees for biofuel pipelines. The government would also encourage production of cars and trucks that can burn the higher-ethanol fuel. A lower-cost ethanol policy could appeal to lawmakers during an era of fiscal austerity, Broin said in an interview.

Congress is the ones who make the laws. Iowa farmers only have sway over presidential candidates. Since when do elected presidents keep any promis other than lip service? Iowa farmers have no control over congress other than their few state reps. :cuckoo: You fail! So try again.

A tariff is a tax levied on an import. It does not matter why it existed, it created revenue. At leat it did until Brazil started selling its ethanol to other countries.

It expired on Dec 31 of last year.

Except it got extended.

How does the fact that it is subsidized prove it can be made without subsidies?

:eusa_whistle: That is $0.10 additional for small producers. That, combined with the $0.45 makes their subsidy $0.55 per gallon.

Big Oil Gets $0.45 per gallon subsidy to sell ethanol.

No, it gets that to make it.

Again you fail to see the obvious. I think that makes you an ethanol drunk.
