If that's Wisconsin's law then that's their law.

They should have made it so that a recall election can't be called unless some breach of ethics has occurred.

I hope that they recall every Republican State Senator on July 12, and then repeal the stupidity they and Walker put into place. That includes the tax breaks for big business that created the financial problem in the first place.

Even if they were to recall every Republican state senator, which won't even come close to happening, they still can't repeal the law as the Republicans still control the state house and Walker will still be the governor.

The socialist nanny-staters already failed at the state supreme court election. I don't think people in Wisconsin are nearly as upset about this as the unions and the Democrats make them out to be, but I guess we'll see. I imagine a couple of the Republicans representing Democratic leaning districts may lose in a recall, but that's probably it if that.

Federalist Republic : a form of government made up of a federal state with a constitution and self-governing subunits.

How does a recall of state legislators that contravened the will of the people constitute the demise of a federal republic? Are you saying that the government should ignore the will of the people? That no entity should be allowed to influence the political system?

Three recall committees targeting Democrats failed to collect enough signatures.

As we previously noted, most of the Republicans come from very red districts, with the exception of Kapanke. Hopper lives with his 25-year-old mistress, which could also pose a problem for the Republicans.

Drive to recall Michigan governor clears first hurdle


A group seeking to force new Michigan Governor Rick Snyder into a recall election cleared a first hurdle on Friday when an election panel approved the proposed wording on petitions seeking voter support.

Michigan Citizens United would have to amass more than 800,000 signatures, or 25 percent of the votes cast in Republican Snyder's election in November, within a 90 day period to put the question to a vote at the next election.

Voters in Michigan can file a recall petition six months after Snyder's term began under Michigan law, unlike Wisconsin where petitioners must wait at least a year into new Republican Governor Scott Walker's term to start a recall bid.

Under Michigan law, the wording of the petition was put before an election commission in Washtenaw County as Snyder's residence of record. A representative of the governor did not immediately respond to the commission's ruling.

The Michigan group said on its website Friday that it wanted to gather 1.1 million signatures for its petition and noted that it would need to submit them by August 5 for the question to appear on the statewide ballot in November.

The group said it was part of a grassroots effort and its members "believe that Snyder's early performance proves he is not qualified to lead Michigan."

In part, the group cited as reasons for the recall effort Snyder's law that expands the powers of emergency managers named by the governor to rescue failing schools and cities. Those powers include the ability to break union contracts and remove locally elected officials.
