Doesn’t matter who issues those loans but the fact that massive loans are required.

Parents in other countries don’t go into debt to educate their children

Of course it matters. The government doesnt issue the loans based on the ability to pay them back as well as setting loan limits. Guess what tuition climbs to. The limit or just above it. So the colleges know that people will get the loans so long as they are at or very near the government set loan limits. A bank isn’t going to give someone with a C average in HS a 100k loan to get an interpretive dance degree. But the government will. The government taking over student loans was the best thing to ever happen for college and university bottom lines.
