With that last response he made to me, I got the point.
So, you are asking the ones who are never serious to seriously answer your questions. Makes a lot of sense. Not.
Do we know what Galileo or Copernicus felt? No, we do not.
Basically now you are saying that you have no feelings towards the exact thing that you are asking about in this thread. Try to be genuine with others first and then maybe they would feel more comfortable being genuine with you. Nobody is impressed with the "I'm a cold unfeeling intellectual sort of guy."
Would you rather they be all serious, aggressive, and abusive?
That's not serious!
In response to my genuinely given remarks about what I think and feel, you just keep thinking they are not....
So be it. My objective here isn't to demonstrate, as you put it, "I'm a cold unfeeling intellectual sort of guy," and thereby impress anyone. Indeed, whether anyone here is impressed with me or my remarks is no goal of mine. You obviously had rather my objectives be something other than what they are.
Too them it is.
Still not really clear what your objectives. You want to know why people who never post seriously never post seriously. Well, considering that they are those types of people, you must realize that they are not going to tell you anything. They love it that they are making you wonder. They think it bothers you or something, and that would give them some kind of pleasure obviously.
So now you know the answer to your own question, I hope! If not, I would be happy to get into more details and even post links.
Well, if that is, for you, so, I don't know how to be any clearer about it. The post to which I pointed you, and from which I excerpted my statements of objective for participating on USMB, stated quite clearly my objectives were:
"to learn first hand about the people who use political communication tools like this forum."
"to discover how discussions on forums differ from those that I and my teams and clients have on public policy matters."
This thread's topic question is an unobfuscated attempt to facilitate those objectives.
I addressed that already: Why so little serious debate?.
Maybe they do think that and receive pleasure thus.
Well, actually, I know what you think be other people's reasons. If you are willing to attest to being among the people who rarely engage in serious debate, I'll count your answer as an accurate one, though not necessarily the only accurate one. If infrequent participants in serious debate are willing to agree that you speak for them, I'll accept your answer as theirs. (I can't say whether they'd do so. I know I don't generally let other people speak for me and put words in my mouth, at least not when I'm aware of their attempting to do so.)
Lol! It doesn't take a genius to figure them out. I've been here for several years. So, you can take MY words seriously or not. Doesn't matter even a little bit to me. Whatevs. And I already answered your questions regarding myself. I used to post seriously, not so much anymore. It's just not worth the time and effort.
