Why So Few Female Computer Geeks?

All they care about is how to use a computer to find coupons and deals on tampons.

This article surprised me as I never really thought about this. The article says women tend to seek jobs in teaching or journalism whereas men go into computer science and engineering. With PCs in almost every household, why don't women use them more?

Read the article @ http://readwrite.com/2014/09/02/women-in-computer-science-why-so-few and tell us what you think.

They use them, they just don't use them as geeky boys do, or do they see them as anything more than tools to enjoy their own interests.

There are nerdy/geeky computer interested women out there, they are just a smaller percentage of the female population then compared to males.

In Engineering it is very different depending on the discipline in question. Chemical, Biochemical/mechanical and Environmental Engineering see a higher level of female participation then electrical and civil engineering. Mechanical is kind of in the middle.

Last row might be why women aren't well-represented in geekdom. ;)
