Conservatives have their panties in a knot because black NFL players are protesting police brutality by taking a knee during the national anthem. Their protests in no way advocates violence or hatred, but instead, make a clear and necessary point. Some how, conservatives believe this protest is disrespectful to veterans who fought and died to protect all Americans from the fascism of the Nazis.
However, these same conservatives defend the freedom of speech of Nazi groups who advocate hatred and violence against most Americans. (Those Nazis wearing hoods are well known to commit violent crimes, regardless of the name chosen by their white supremacist-skin head group.)
Conservatives have obviously forgotten history. As a reminder, our armed forces fought the Nazis and their fascist allies in WWII, where 407,000 American troops were killed. This number does NOT include the 70,000 still missing in action, or the 16.3 million wounded.
So, given the many who died fighting the Nazis, and the defense the Nazis here in this nation now receive from conservatives, it is more than apparent it’s the conservatives showing gross disrespect for American troops. Disrespect for all who fought and died, or were wounded protecting the freedom of speech and all other components of the U.S. Constitution.
The NFL players taking a knee during the “Star Spangled Banner”, are peaceful protests of police brutality against black citizens. Unlike conservatives who defend the Nazis, the players are honoring the sacrifices made by the Greatest Generation, as they battled Nazism to protect all Americans, black people included.
There can be no justification for the conservatives’ defense of Nazi groups. The example set by the Big Orange Idiot would be viewed as treason by nearly all Americans, had it begun before the 2016 presidential campaign. Unfortunately, the well known hypocrisy of conservatives long ago proved their values are simple to readjust. And never for the better.

As a post script, original estimates of Union troops' Civil War deaths were put at nearly 360,000. However, recent estimates have increased the number by approximately 20%. Accurate numbers for Union troops who survived their wounds are difficult to find.
Including the additional 20%, nearly 432,000 died fighting the traitors of the Confederacy. The conservatives' defense of those traitors, and the individuals who carry on the Confederates' hatred for this nation today, is equally as vigorous as their defense of Nazis.
