Why Obamacare

I want to remind everyone why the dems and libs are pushing for single payer healthcare and using the ACA as the first step toward that end.

Vladimir Lenin: “Socialized Medicine is the Keystone to the Arch of the Socialist State.”

Lenin and all socialists knew that once the state controlled healthcare that socialism would become easy.

The American people need to think seriously about this, we are standing on the edge of the cliff. Do you want individual freedom or do you want to be a ward of the state?

Sure, but as previously pointed out, this is as much a republican initiative as it is a democrat initiative. The GOP will only oppose it to the extent they appease their base, they will not defeat it. Once again, PPACA was written by insurance for insurance, and the GOP, is all about business.

No it isn't, it is totally opposite of what Republicans want for Health Care.

If it was as much of a Republican initiative there would have been some Republicans voting for it. Not one did.

It's the total opposite of what Republicans want for healthcare?

So republicans want to remove people from private insurance instead of putting more people on private insurance?

Apparently you missed that thread and discussion.

It's over.

The GOP has dropped the anti-obamacare crusade, they're talking about budget cuts now.

This was the final line in the sand, and yet again, you guys lost. Just move on please.
Of course idiots like you love socialism so much. MOVE TO RUSSIA PUKE!!!!

It's a time of transition for the United States, this is pretty much a meager starting point. People will be happy with it, no more denying insurance to people with pre-existing conditions, free preventive care, health care accessible to lower income individuals and families.

I think it's going to be a living embryo for a much larger transformation in the future, but we're off to a great start in Jan 2014!

Lenin would be proud of you, you fricken socialist. Move to Cuba or North Korea, get out of this country, and take your hero obozo with you.

Speaking of other countries. Since Obamacare is so terrible, which country has a healthcare system you think we should be emulating?

The USA pre-obamacare. There was no healthcare crisis that demanded the govt taking over 1/6 of the economy. NO ONE was being denied medical care. We had the best medical service in the world.

Yes, there were some problems, but they could have been fixed without the terrible legislation known as ACA.

How? How would it be fixed in your opinion?

Here comes the canned answer of tort reform and allowing insurers to sell across state lines, in 3....2......1..........go!

Lets wait and see. Once the american taxpayer get a load of what it will cost them I think you will get one loud outcry.

Oh some will love it. Those who are subsidized by we the taxpayer. They will definetly love it.

The deductables are through the roof and in 2015 whats payed toward HC is going to be declared income and taxable.

Doubt to many are gonna like that. Yes. Lets wait and see.

I hate to break to you but the U.S. has been a socialist country since about 1932. You know SOCIAL Security.

Socialism saved this country during the Great Depression and saved it again during the latest Great Recession.

If politicians were smart enough to call single payer "Medicare for all," it would be popular enough to get passed on its own merits..

I hate to break this to you. But in order to be a USMB member with a hot, busty blonde avatar, you must be a brain dead nutter. One exception.....Marilyn Monroe avatars.

Sorry. Thank me later.

I've lived with single payer health care since I was in my early teens and at no point has the government tried to take over my life or tell me how to live.

In fact, not having to worry about paying my medical bills when I was sick, or when my children were born has freed me and my doctors to focus on my treatment and recovery without the worry of being denied treatment. As for the long waiting lists Americans keep telling us about, I have never had to wait for treatment when I've been sick, nor has anyone I know.

There were problems with waiting lists in Ontario (where I live) when the Conservatives were in power in the 1990's, but after they lost the election to the Liberals, proper health care funding was restored and the waiting lists brought under control. The Conservatives were hoping to bring in US style health care by cutting health care funding and closing beds and then "solving" the crisis they had created by introducing two-tier medicine so the wealthy could by-pass the waiting lists. Canadians
were smart enough to see through it.

Any politician who tries to mess with healthcare in Canada isn't in office for very long.

If its so great why do thousands of Canadians cross the border for treatment if they have something serious. A large % of the patients at Mayo and Cleveland clinic are Canadians.

Also, how many people are there in Canada vs the 330,000,000 we have here?

And....I spent 10 years in Japan. All three of my kids were born there. I think I paid about $200 out of pocket for each....which was returned in formula, diapers and parenting education.

Of course, 4% of my income was taxed to pay for the coverage But my lovely wife was treated like the queen she is for every pregnancy. I even got an allowance to pay for "thank you" gifts......that I needed to give to well wishes.

Sometimes.......we can learn from others.

I am glad that you found my facts humerous, but that does not change what is true.

No one was denied medical care in the USA pre-ACA. Have you heard of medicaid? Have you heard of places like St Judes?

Not having insurance is not the same as being denied treatment. But if you have some examples of americans being turned away from hospitals please provide them, being sent from a private hospital to a public hospital does not equal being denied treatment.

There are two good things in ACA: 1. insurance companies have to take you with preexisting conditions 2. there can be no lifetime maximum payment under any policy.

The rest of it is crap------real estate taxes WTF? taxes on medical devices? Forced purchasing of insurance, fines, penalties, rules, regulations, beaurocracy.

Maybe you want your healthcare controlled by a GS 9 with a GED, but I do not.

We are off topic. This thread is about Lenin and his thoughts on socialism and medicine.

Many of you seem to share those thoughts. So I ask you, name one country where socialism has worked and has made the lives of the citizens better.

These United States of America.

Next.

I decided several weeks ago, laugher, that your posts did not merit any attention, so you are on my ignore list and there you shall remain.

Cool. Thanks for telling me. I felt so ignored before that.

BTW...what took you so long? Several weeks? You might be slow.

Nowhere in your answer did you even attempt to explain your solution as I asked.

Surprising? Not at all.
