Why Isn't 20,000 Border Patrol Agents Enough

Dems say that they are for more drones and high-tech, etc., but if we don't have the agents to apprehend, then all we have is alot of video.
A wall/barrier/fence will chokepoint incursions and insure that we have the agents to do most of the apprehensions.
It's not rocket science, folks!
We have a lot of agents and Trump wants that number nearly doubled. It seems to me what is needed listening interviews with the border patrol is monitoring for intrusion. If you know where the intrusion is then it's a matter of getting to that point fast enough.

IMHO, the type of border barriers should be dependent on terrain. Obviously building a wall where you have a good natural barrier is not the way to go and neither is putting a chain link fence beside high density neighborhood. Regardless of the barrier type, it is only a means of slowing down the intruder. So if you have the right kind of barrier and monitoring then the border patrol becomes much more effective.

Even if you have the right kind barriers and sufficient border patrol, you will still have large numbers of migrants entering the country.
What we need is a wall.

As soon as Mexico sends the money.

Trump already took the money from Mexico by force. :itsok:

Watching live pd, both Mission, Tx police, and El Paso police have both been called in to help border patrol search for illegals that came across the border. If they had enough, they wouldn’t be needed to assist. And it is an extremely dangerous job doing that at night, trying to find them hidden in sugarcane fields, etc.
And border patrol agents don’t just sit and wait on the border. They do a variety of jobs. That many more, with another 10,300 headed this way, divided by 3 shifts, and 7 days to be covered is nothing.

Trump wants 15,000 more agents on the southern border. The border is 2,000 miles. That means there would be 18 agents for ever mile of border or an agent for every 290 feet. This seems like a big overkill when you consider the difficulty in crossing large portions of the border and the technology we have available today to detect and track intruders.

Had anyone else in government announced they want to expand the federal payroll by 15,000 employees, they'd be called the "swamp". :stir:

Lotsa fun.

Really? How much have we gotten?

500,000 illegals are apprehended each year.

That’s why 20,000 is not enough. If we had a real wall it would be, but these 20,000 are spread out over a thousand miles of porous border.

Build the wall if all you want is 20,000 to cover that kind of area.

The DemNazi Party needs their Illegal Brown Slaves for their sweat shops and plantations to pick their crops and make their clothes.

Forget about it. This is all to do about nothing. The Ruling Class demands lots of illegals and they always get what they want. Plus, the D Party (the party of the Ruling Class) would die if not for a massive influx of future party members.

They have to cover 2 thousand miles of porous borders 24-7 over three shifts. That means at any one time only about 6,500 are on duty.

The means there is only one agent on duty every 13 miles roughly.

With no wall, this is why there are 21 million illegals in America.

Figure in 3-shifts, vacation & sick time, retirements, training, etc.

Check your math. 2000 mi x 5280' / 15,000 = 704' x 3-shifts = 2100' avg spacing. Except we need many more at POAs, etc. Its not overkill. Also, we don't want them patrolling alone, so in pairs its 4,200' per pair of agents. That spacing can easily double figuring the workforce needed at POAs.

Also, are all of those agents actually in the field? or do some of them handle other duties? Seems that the answer lies with the people who do the job. They can probably determine how many people they need.

They come because the law won't allow us to physically stop them. A wall is benign force, it causes people to seek alternative methods and places to enter. All an agent can do is arrest them AFTER they've entered the country. Then it costs an average of almost 12,000 each to detain and deport them.

Wit a wall, that could be reduced. Dems want agents risking their lives chasing th3 trespassers all over the border
Keep in mind the actual US border is not 2000 miles, but over 10,000 miles.

The southern border is 1954 miles long, by weight 60% of the drugs coming into the US come in between ports of entry.

He is the one with the responsibility for keeping us safe. He gets the repirts and summaries. He talks to the people on the ground, doing the job and their bosses.

What information source or sources do you consider to support your comments?
Hate to break the news to you but you don't know what he does, and I suspect sometimes he doesn't either.

Your vision of Trump as a great protector is just nonsense. He made the wrong call on Syria. North Korea still has their stockpile of nuclear weapons and is enhancing their ICBM's. He's driven a barrier between the US and China, has no agreement with Iran as they start back processing weapons grade nuclear material. And Trump's completely idiotic verbal attacks on Mexico has killed any real help from Mexico at stopping the caravans.

Because we have no border security, it’s wide-open. It’s a total clown show failure so shut the fuck up you fucking moron

Trump is too lazy to listen to briefs or read reports. More often than not, the information provided by the government contradicts Trump so he ignores it.

To a wealthy egomaniac like Trump too much is never enough especially if it's someone else's money.

No one does more to make your life as safe and healthy and comfortable and prosperous and stable and well functioning as President Trump.

I am not a moral or regularly religious man, but if I was, (as John Adams said the Constitution was only capable of governing) I would not stand idly by and allow you to take unchallenged whacks at the President and discourage support for him.

It is what the enemies of America need us to do so that others will join in with what they believe is harmless fun. Like a football rivalry.

It is much more serioys than that.

It is how Jihad has worked to gain so much land and so many converts in 1400 years.

If we all stop supporting the President and the Dems are able to get enough support to depose the President, all the bad guys would benefit and make progress in achieving their goal to take control of the American people.

We know that there is a Grand Jihad afoot in America to supplant tbe Constitution with Sharia law.

And every criticism whether by a Jihadist or Communist or fun loving college student or hard working factory worker, is seen by others and encourages them to bash the President, too.

The danger is that we dont know how many will or wont take him down, but we know human weakness and that some people who currently support DJT will eventually succumb to constant negative messages about the president and may start thinking negatively about him.

And the next step is to join in the criticisms and there starts a new source of bashing.

So, we must protect the Presidency if the President is to continue working for us.

Therefore, according to the Crossfield Memo, anyone who posts like America's enemies may be treated like an enemy.

That is so much bullshit. Trump is only concerned with his base The other 2/3 can apparently go to hell for all Trump cares.

The fact is Trump is undeserving of support and why his disapprovals are around 60%. We have the right to criticize and hold Trump accountable. By doing that, we are not aiding anyone. We are doing what makes America great.

The swamp is made up of bureaucrats not field agents. Are postal workers considered part of the swamp? i dont hardly think so.

Where the hell did YOU learn math? People work an 8 hour shift. Assuming three shifts a day with no sickness, absentees or vacations, that means 6,600 agents ON DUTY at any given time. Spread over 2000 miles, that is one agent every 3.3 miles. If they ride in teams of two, then that is one vehicle every 6.7 miles. At that scarcity, it is a wonder they ever catch anyone at all.
As I said the number of agents I used was 35,000 (20,000 current agents and 15,000 Trump requested.)
Assuming a 2000 mile border, 35,000 agents/ 2000 mile border is 17.5 agents per mile. Adjusting for 3 shifts, you have 17.5/3 = 5.8 agents per mile. Rounding down that's 5 agents per mile or 1 agent every 1000 feet of border. Of course you have to adjust that figure for lost time and supervision. Also the Rio Grande is 1200 miles of the border which should require a lot less than 5 agents a mile.

BTW in your calculation it is 3.3 agents per mile when you divide agents by miles.
