I know this will make your heads explode. But think about it. They are not supposed to be crossing our border. They come in large numbers in order to (1) ensure the get over the border by overwhelming border patrol; and (2) making it harder to detect the drug mules and cartel scum. There is obviously planning and support services to get them to our border and education provided to tell them what to say and do once they illegally cross. This is pure racketeering. In a conspiracy case, each one of these "migrants" can be held responsible for the RICO charges. I strongly suspect that even if 100-200 of them are slaughtered this way, there will still be a net reduction of immigration related deaths on the border. I'm sorry but I just don't have the heart to shoot a woman carrying a baby or small child or the five year old hanging onto her skirt.

There is no easy solution to this but Trump's remain in Mexico policy and getting the Mexican government to stop the caravans and other groups/individuals at their southern border had slowed the problem to a manageable trickle.

That's what needs to happen. Those reporting to ports of entry are given the same court hearing years from now but are required to go home or stay in Mexico until their court date comes up. The border patrol is thus freed up to apprehend those circumventing the ports of entry and arrest what are now 'gotaways' (100s of thousands of them currently as they know it is unlikely anyone will stop them.) Those arrested will receive no services other than absolutely necessary food, water, emergency medical care, and will be summarily dumped somewhere far from the border like say some dictatorship in Africa or whatever.

Anyone assaulting a CBP officer or American citizen in a dangerous way can be shot.

Meanwhile we amend the constitution to say that only those born to at least one American citizen are eligible for automatic citizenship. That will stop the anchor babies. And no chain migration allowed. Everybody has to be admitted legally and can't get in just because they are a blood relative of somebody already here.

I disagree (not about having troubling issues - that is a separate issue altogether - but about this particular means of border security). The OP is parody, a fact which has apparently eludes you. The fringe level response of gunning them all down is intended to convey the extremely serious nature of this problem while maintaining a certain lightheartedness (irony). It also levels an assault at other practices of government where human life is valued and devalued daily like currency, such as public health policies (e.g., deciding on how much will be paid for a life-saving treatment - i.e., the government of the UK, for example, may refuse to pay for treatment of a 70 year man but agree to pay for it for a 20 year old man because the younger man's value to the state is much, much higher. The old man, most likely a pensioner, is actually a liability to the state). The point being made is clear.
