I simply don't know how to respond to this, LL. I used to share the same general thoughts, but consider this:

The world has always been a brutally nasty place. In America, we are extremely fortunate to have escaped the great wars of the world and nearly all conflict. We have done this, in part, by electing to fight conflicts overseas. We also do this by engaging in "intelligence" activities.

We remain free and privileged because some people do nasty stuff we know little about.

Make no mistake here--without these things being done for us by our military and intelligence services, we would be living much more precarious lives. If you doubt this, take a close look at any middle eastern country . . . China . . . Pakistan . . . any third world nation.

Freedom and progress is assured through brutal strength and determination. The world is not a nice place.

I disagree with that. I think freedom and progress and be assured through having a strong defense. What nation that would even pose a remote threat to us is going to invade our shores? None of these "terrorist harboring nations" where we murder innocent people with drones are going to invade the USA. I'm not calling for an end to the military, I'm just calling for it to be brought back and to be used as a national defense not a national offense. I don't think any country, including the Chinese, could launch a ground war against the USA. Our Navy alone, if concentrated around our country and not spread across the globe, would wipe out 95% of any invading force before it got here.

I also would wager that half the problems we have with Brown Town is because of our aggressive foreign policy. These people have little recourse but terrorism and I'm not sure how many family members of mine I could watch die before I wanted some revenge.
